To your last statement , true but only now do we understand what Eisenhower was getting at . We have a problem , warmongers are in control , they have become sociopathic .
The current members of the large faction of people who have been badgering the world about what Eisenhower was getting at since Eisenhower was learning the alphabet can fill you in, if you are curious. Short version: they've always been sociopathic. They didn't "become" sociopathic, they began that way. The Republican Party settled into its current form (fascism) sometime in the years leading to 1980 and Reagan, after a long struggle beginning before WWII and hitting its stride in 1968. Eisenhower was persuaded to launch his initial candidacy in opposition to that threat, which he and others saw from the Hoover/Taft Republicans - the faction that became, in victory (after Nixon showed them how to win), the Reaganite Republican Party we have today. Meanwhile, lowering corporate taxes along with all other taxes that afflict rich people is of course the single major and non-negotiable Republican political goal - the fact that only a small minority of large American corporations pay anything like the official levels of tax anyway is beside the point. So is the fact that corporate taxation pays a much smaller fraction of the US government's bills than it did in the past, especially in wartime.
