they maybe athletic etc. but what are they really? a device used to hold the attention span of the average american for a few minutes. do they serve any real purpose? no. ever noticed how cheerleaders generally look decent? they're just there to shake something and keep the audience's attention from wandering too much.

They are either, enthusiastic about their team, or , they want to become popular by being fake as hell.
Either way they are shallow morons.
If you mean they are fun to have disrespectful sex with then yeah, I agree.

Yes they are a device but so is dressing Trinity in tight black leather! And what about the babes in Sports Illustrated? Device. And there is a real purpose...INSPIRATION!

I don't get it! Feminism has really ruined things.

I'm just glad there are no cheerleaders in Britain. I have nothing against cheerleaders though as they are associated with America; not with me.

I'm a cheerleader... Anyone complaining about throwing chicks around and touching them in cool places needs to have his head examined. Just remember cheerleading consists of the cheering itself and stunts. The stunts are the cool part.

if it keeps them fit, builds motor function/co-ordination, and helps foster real team work with trust then it should be compulsory!
and helps heal all those who have issues with touching another human-being!
i just dislike all the excessively patriotic crap that gets spewed out by the ass kissing team managers and directors trying to use thier team management position as some form of political spring board.
    free expresion not artistic regresion!

whats wrong with being fit and healthy and not being a heart attack burdon on the countrys economy and bringing extra missery to your own family?
    go girls and guys!
    you rock!
ps. the next big thing for the school leaders is to make hygeen/showering and changing after compulsory, after practice.
imagine having to sit in a chair and try and learn anything when you stink of sweat and all your clothes are sticking to you

    eeeeek
health profesionals and teachers alike should be disgusted at the practice of it!
unfortunately allot of the youth is already sexualy disfunctional so showering in large numbers could give oppertunity for biggotry and retarded anti social behaviour to be acted out by the more disfunctional bullying types!
    oooppss i digress....
    go cheerleaders!

As for what cheerleaders actually DO....what does any athelete actually DO? Not a whole lot, the point of all sports is to showcase athletic ability, it wasn't always about money, it just so happens that people like to watch shoecases of athletic ability and thats where the money comes in. Cheerleaders are just as much athletes as any other sports members are.

1st thought no, Second thought a definite yes.

I'm a football guy so when i compare cheerleading athletically its no comparison. so just taking that into mind i'd have to say cheerleading wasn't a sport.

    BUT!!!

If you compare a cheer leader with lets say a golfer? cheerleader would kick his tail. Golfing a sport i plan to take up when im 35 and start getting arthritis and fartin dust...and yet golfing is a sport so i say why not, sure why not call it a sport

    POINT TO MAKE

at the same time i call cheerleading a sport i think there is something else that should also be said. have any of you ever seen professional cheerleaders(eg. Amercian NFL, NBA) and the stuff they do.

And if we call that an athletic sport then i think playboy girls and strippers should also be considered athletes.

    LOL

have you ever seen the athletes in the iron man and iron women compititions?
the winners seem to average an age of about 30 years old.
and suggesting you will get arthritis resulting from old age is a little off the mark.
how many football players in any team can do a summersalt or flick flacks and then catch a person in free fall?
or just a kartwheel for that matter.
the cheerleading i was refering to is the type that involves acrobatic manouvers not the jumping on the spot waving
pom poms, which is just another form of cheering like an overweight shovenistic male shouting obsenaties from the stalls
or a feminist preaching women perving at the players from the stalls being sarcastic about the stereo types.
just because there is people who need to make themselfs out to be superior to others by excluding them from a popularity contest derived from thier own disfunction is no grounds to stop looking after your own body!
the "popular" girls(and boys) of such groups (cheerleading and other exclusively fostered groups) are just as much victims as the unpopular girls and boys by the constant reinforcement of perverted morals and ethics based on clothing and money.
which is mostly preached by thier disfunctional parents and disfunctional teachers and those with perverse selfish intent.
aside from the need to gain enough money to raise a family or seel personal goals.
once you remove the peer presure that they are expected to conform to by allot of people they are no different than other people they just all have slightly different types of issues from such things being dictated and fostered from birth and sociatal requirments placed like walls/blinkers in thier lifes.

and just a small point yet a realy big one is that since most people associate cheerleaders in a form of pornography and sexual symbology...
the more fit you are the better sex you can have
(not will have but can have)!

    groove on all

we all have our own problems
    as such

i think we all should encourage teen agers to participate and maintain some form of fitnes practice

if you RE-read what i posted you should see that i was noting that all people have issues and so others are percieved as being
of some sort of group, which is seen as a group that is undesirable
    to someone
to dislike someone because they are percieved as attractive is extreemly biggoted and reflects self esteem issues
and just the same in reverse

norma jean baker is a good example of distorted perception
by those who thought she was not educated or inttelegent

    groove on all

Norma Jean was portrayed as the archetypal dumb blonde, she was beautiful but in reality I do not think she was intelligent or well educated..however she was a talent

Some of the big competitions are interesting to watch but I don't think their jobs are necessary at sporting events. They only babysit the spectators by trying to keep them interacting with the game during intermission or during a time-out or whatever the situation. At night, after I have watched pro-football, I'm haunted by their fake smiles and head-nodding.

OMG, yeah, Norma Jean Baker was uh... well she discusts me because she was a stupid blonde bimbo who got bizzay with the Prez and his brother. Sorry, no offense but I just have NO respect for her, nor for her modern-day counterpart, Anna Nicole Smith.
