I really hope Jennifer Rubin get's her kudos for her outstanding and relentless coverage of Titanic Trump.

With the release of tax returns suggesting he suffered a colossal business failure (a loss of $916 million would have been roughly half his net worth at the time) hanging over his head, Trump’s week-long meltdown becomes more understandable. Not only did he decisively lose a debate, he likely knew by then the financial revelations were about to break. One can see why a narcissist such as Trump would stew in panic, anger and anxiety. His carefully crafted image as a successful and generous mogul was being destroyed before his eyes.

The final nail in Trump’s coffin?
Trump almost certainly knew at the debate last Monday that all this news about his taxes were about to hit, the one thing that he knew would sink his candidacy. And now he's running of the rails yet again. I hope this teaches a lesson to the RNC that went along for the ride knowing full well that he was hiding something YUUGH by not releasing his taxes.

After some careful consideration, I've concluded that Donald J Trump is the Steely Dan half of America wants to fuck itself with.
The other half aren't sure about the fit.

    Naughty, naughty. You guys.

It's actually kind of funny, for me, because Jennifer Rubin is one of my favorite right-wing hacks. I mean, it's really easy to pick on her. But it's also true that Donald Trump is nearly the antithesis of her idea of what the Republican Party should be how she wants the GOP to be seen.

    Trump the money launder:

In February 2015, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network settled an investigation of Trump Taj Mahal with the assessment of a $10 million civil fine for "significant and long-standing money laundering violations" which were described as "willful and repeated" contraventions of the record-keeping and reporting requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act.[37][38] The casino agreed to periodic external audits to comply with anti-money laundering statutes,[38] and admitted to multiple violations as part of its settlement.[39] The U.S. Treasury made note of casino violations dating back to 1998, when Trump Taj Mahal paid a $477,700 fine for violating currency transaction requirements, as well as violations in 2003, 2010, and in 2012, for which the company was "repeatedly warned". Trump Taj Mahal was "far from meeting" standards required to protect the U.S. financial system "from exploitation from criminals, terrorists, and other bad actors", the Treasury said in a press release.[38] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_Taj_Mahal

Hmm, and this guy wants to become POTUS. This is the guy who claims Hilary is corrupt.

Trump likes to blame his bankruptcies on a recession. But as with almost everything else with The Donald, that isn't true. Trump's companies have gone bankrupt 6 times. Trump claims the business conditions were worst than the Great Recession of 2007-2009 and almost as bad as the Great Depression.

But here are the facts. The recession of 1990 was over before Trump opened the Taj Mahal and before the Taj went bankrupt for the first time. The reason the Taj went bankrupt are simple, it was poorly managed. When it opened, the construction hadn't been completed. The slot machines which are the bread and butter of any casino hadn't been installed whe the Taj was opened. And The Donald over spent. The Donald financed the Taj with junk bonds carrying a 14% interest rate. The Taj was doomed to failure before it even opened its doors.

The Donald's first bankruptcy occurred in 1991, two other Trump casinos and one New York hotel quickly followed in 1992 again well after the recession Trump blames his bankruptcies on. In 2oo4 Trump Hotels filed for bankruptcy, again well after the recession of 1990. In 2009 Trump filed for bankruptcy again,

Trump says he's a great businessman. He's taken his ownership position from 100% to zero through multiple bankruptcies. Trump isn't a great businessman.

For some perspective, the recession of 1990, Trump's boogieman, was in no way even comparable to either the Great Depression or the Great Recession. The recession of 1990 lasted 8 months. The Great Depression lasted 43 months. The Great Recession of 2007 lasted 18 months. Contrary to Trump's assertions, his 1990 boogieman recession was mild and not in any way close to the severity of the Great Depression or the Great Recession of 2007.

If it weren't for his ability to license his name he would be broke. He's a complete scam artist. And he's scamming the public now.

He might be worse than broke - guys who lose their investors's money in the big casino business, but walk away with fat wallets themselves, have in the past found the bankruptcy was the least of their problems. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_Greenbaum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugsy_Siegel

At least on paper, Trump lost a lot of money for people with mob connections. The intersection of the casino business, the real estate business, Hollywood and TV, the current Russian power setup, and a big beefy low class guy with gratuitously bad taste in home furnishings,

    is a damn stereotype.

And Trump's misinformation campaign continues, his people continue to accuse the New York Times of illegally releasing his tax return. But here is the rub, there is nothing illegal about publishing the news and receiving Trump's tax return from an anonymous source is news and publishing that material isn't illegal.

The irony here is Trump and his people have no problem with Russians illegally hacking Clinton and Democratic Party servers and releasing that material. They have no problem with WikiLeaks, Julian Assange and Putin illegally hacking servers and stealing their data. In fact Trump requested Russia illegally hack and release private information.

But when an news agency legally receives Trump's information and legally publishes it, Trump and his people want to throw them into jail.

He hates the 1st amendment. Donald Trump, victimized by the First Amendment he abhors. He wants to be able to sue news organizations. Keep in mind this is the man that just said he doesn't think Hillary has been faithful to bill. Libel anyway? Well we know the Donald has thin skin and a glass jaw.

    And the clown car continues:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...9ce776-8cb4-11e6-bf8a-3d26847eeed4_story.html

The above article contains a video in which The Donald talks about his womanizing is some rather graphic terms. This isn't G rated material. This was recorded while The Donald was married to his current wife. One has to wonder how long he will continue to be married to his current wife. His current wife is getting a little old to boot. The Donald doesn't like older women and after this tape, I doubt if his current wife likes The Donald much either. If she ever liked The Donald, she definitely won't like him more after she hears this video.

I wonder how the evangelicals he likes to talk about being for him will react to this one. It's a doozy.

He will stay married to her until she begins to look just a tad too old. After all:

You know, it doesn't really matter what [the media] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass,” Mr. Trump said in a 1991
-Donald Trump’s Trail of Comments About Women
And you're right that tape is a doozy that would be breathlessly broadcast 24/7 had it been any other candidate. I mean after you brag about your penis size at a national debate and urge the nation to go look up a sex tape obviously there is no real "bottom" to how low we can go.

I wonder what his running mate who is a staunch Christian and his fellow Republicans have to say about this tape.

This tape will be HUGE. CNN hosts are speechless. And FoxFauxFixed News is covering the hurricane (surprise surprise). This is what you get when you tap a reality show star and known scam artists to lead the party. Oh and created an alternate world of news and factual information. Can wait to hear his pal Sean Hannity apologize and blame Bill Clinton. Incredibly in Trump's "apology" he mentions he heard worse from Bill Clinton. Unbelievable. Unbelievable.

Perhaps this will become his campaign's new strategy for getting the women's vote - "Just grab them by the p***y" - I'm sure he will have a lot of success with that tactic...

On a more serious note, I would imagine the part about chasing married women will cause worse problems than the graphic locker room talk.

I think the worst part of the tape demonstrates his sense of entitlement. He, as evidenced by his taped comments fells entitled to women's bodies.

The question now is how does his base react to this? And what do Republican Party leaders do? Voting has already begun in some states. What can they do?

Speaker Ryan and Trump have a joint event scheduled for tomorrow in Ryan's district. It will be interesting to watch.

I saw a line ... I think it's Tony Perkins ... it's not for shared values that he supports Trump.

Watch for this. I'll see if I can find my source. I was in the middle of something else, and just dusted past it, you know?

    †

    And there we are:

Billy Bush, in a statement released by NBC Universal, said: "Obviously I'm embarrassed and ashamed. It's no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I'm very sorry."

After the video appeared online Friday afternoon, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wrote on Twitter: "This is horrific. We cannot allow this man to become president." Her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.), told reporters, "It makes me sick to my stomach," while campaigning in Las Vegas.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which has endorsed Clinton, issued a statement from Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens saying: "What Trump described in these tapes amounts to sexual assault."

Trump was also criticized by members of his own party, including Sen. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), who is running for reelection, and has said she will vote for Trump. "His comments are totally inappropriate and offensive," Ayotte said in a written statement.

"No woman should ever be described in these terms or talked about in this manner. Ever.," Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.

One of Trump's most prominent social-conservative supporters, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, told BuzzFeed's Rosie Gray: "My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values."

Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, was at a diner in Toledo when the news broke — about to view the diner's collection of signed cardboard hot-dog buns, which includes one signed by Trump. But the reporters traveling with Pence were quickly ushered out of the diner by campaign staff, before they could ask Trump's running mate about it, according to Politico. Politico reported that the journalists, traveling in Pence's "protective pool," were not permitted to film Pence as he left the diner.

    (Farenthold↱; boldface accent added)

Trump's core support probably resents the next paragraph:

The tape appears at a time when Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has sought to make a campaign issue out of his opponent’s marriage. Trump has criticized former president Bill Clinton for his past infidelity and criticized opponent Hillary Clinton as her husband’s “enabler.”

They probably feel cheated. The GOP base, however ... I don't know, watch for some mmanner of Perkins' parsing percolating through the ranks.

Fox has yet to mention it on their TV programming. So Fox News viewers are totally oblivious to the tape at this point. Fox is probably figuring out how to spin this. I did hear it mentioned briefly on Republican talk radio. Levin mentioned it briefly and quickly dismissed it as a liberal media conspiracy. Levin has never been a big Trump supporter because Levin doesn't think Trump is conservative enough for him. But he thinks Trump is better than Clinton.

One caller suggested they vote Trump into office and then impeach him so that Pence could become POTUS. Remember, we are talking Republicans here, that kind of crap makes sense to them. Who cares about reasons for impeachment or getting the required number of votes in both houses to impeach and convict? Who cares about about the impact that would have on the nation? Who cares? He's basically proposing using Congress to subvert the will of voters. Republicans have been trying to do that for a long time now; so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I've heard the joint Trump-Ryan campaign event scheduled for tomorrow morning has been cancelled. It appears Republicans are now distancing themselves from The Donald. Is there more of this kind of stuff out there? I suspect there is. This behavior is rumored to be typical of Trump.

What can Republicans do about it? If Trump doesn't want to quit the race, I don't think there is much Republicans can do about it. They created him, they backed him. They can't remove him from the ballot. Trump's their problem. I don't think Trump is the kind of guy who would willingly drop out of the race. There are only 4 weeks left before the election and voting is already underway. What will Trump do? I think he will wait for the polling which puts us well into next week. But I just don't think Trump will pull out of the race. His race is and has always been about the greater glory of Trump, and I don't see how dropping out furthers the greater glory of Trump. I think he will continue the campaign. He will blame others. He will blame the media. He will blame Clinton as he has already done. But I don't think he will drop out and I don't think the Republican base will be fazed by this revelation. This isn't about evidence and reason with them. This is about religion, not Christianity, but Republican religion. I expect the excuses and fictions will prevail within the party. They always do.
