The Empire Strikes Back, purely because in my opinion it was the better made of the original three and has a quality about it that even movies today cannot even dream of matching. Plus the fight scenes were cool Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Star Wars When the first film came out in 1977 I was serving In Germany with the British Army. Deciding not to wait until it arrived in the Military Cinema's a friend and I went to the local cinema. In our naivity we thought that it would be in English with German sub titles. Not a chance it was fully dubbed in German, even the written introduction going up the screen from bottom to top was in the native tongue, No complaints of course, but I still smile when I think of Alec Guinness saying 'Actung Luke'. My fault, typical lazy brit not learning another laungauge.
Empire Strikes Back, hands down. Easily the best scifi movie ever made. Great acting, Directing, so many memorable moments...gah...boggles the mind to think of how amazingly awesome the movie is. It also has the best finale to any movie ever. *goes into convulsions* so...awesome....

Apollo, what makes TPM the best Star Wars movie for you? Why? You're the only one I've met who thinks it's the best...
The best thing about TPM was the fight scenes with Darth Maul great antagonist in the film series and he is killed off I have disliked George Lucas since that moment.
I agree Pollux V I was just going to say that TPM is the best because of the fight scenes and then I scrolled down. I think I most agree with what Quondam72 said. Darth Maul and Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan Make it the best! I don't like ATOC because the battle scenes don't come into the picture until the end. I think that Episode III will be the best because it will have battle scenes at the beginning since now the war has started. You'll will learn that I hae reason in my post Pollux X.
Return of the Jedi I'm surprised more people didn't lean towards Return of the Jedi (RoTJ). Historically, RoTJ recieves the most praise. I'm a fan of sappy climaxes, where everything can be put together.. This is what Return of the Jedi does for me. When I first saw it, I felt relieved knowing the universe was saved. Well, what I really liked was the inclusion of the Ewok tribes and the battle against the nearly completed Death Star II. The battles against those AT-ST's (Dubbed chicken-walkers), were also fun. I hated the two new ones.. I can't say I haven't seen both in the theatre and plan on seeing the third one.. because I have and am. The acting is bad, the scripts are bad, and the special effects are so hollywood. I didn't feel the theatrical brilliance in these like I did with the first three.
Re: Return of the Jedi I agree, my son likes the latest one's but they just don't do it for me. The first and the best, it's got to be the original Star War's. Point of interest, The black hand held weapons the Storm troopers used in the first movie were in fact 'Sterling sub-machine guns'. my personal weapon at the time, although sadly mine didn't fire red laser beams, but I could always pretend.
