Japanese scientists from Utsunomiya University have created touchable holograms, using femtosecond laser technology. They developed "Fairy Lights", a system that can fire high frequency laser pulses that respond to human touch, so that, when interrupted, the hologram's pixels can be manipulated in mid-air.
This technology of touchable holograms has previously been demonstrated, but the laser beams used in it weren't good for human skin, i.e. they were burning it.
There is a video demonstrating this technology: http://www.reuters.com/article/2015...ram-idUSKBN0TJ19B20151130#CWU78H33fTTSlKxI.97

Yeah, I wonder what that technology will be used for?
