I haven't been on SF in years but it's nice to see the community still kicking. I recognize quite a few still-active members like Tiassa and JamesR from back in the day.
I'm not yet sure what turn the culture has taken nowadays but SF was quite a fun and instructive place back in the day (minus the intermittent blackouts..) and I learned a lot of formative lessons during my time here.
I started out as a pretty prolific poster on the Religion sub-forums. You might have called me a defender of the Christian faith; always quick to quote scripture and challenge unbelief. Little by little, as the story goes, I began to study the ideas of skeptics - chiefly because I wanted to expose holes in their logic - but this eventually led to my realizing that there were certain things (such as inerrancy of the Bible) which were simply irreconcilable.
At some point I guess there was a straw that broke the camel's back and I realize that I had lost belief. There was a fairly large thread on my "coming out" which I'm sure someone can dig up (along with who knows what other cringeworthy stuff I might have been posting then).
A lot has changed in the last 7 or so years but I'd like to give SF some credit for my (sharper) critical thinking skills. It's not every day that someone changes a core tenet of their life on an internet forum after debate so I'll always have place in my heart for SF.
Anyway.. nice to meet you all!
