What came before the Big Bang?

    The Universe is forever because energy and therefore matter are both infinite in their existence.

    I have no problem with conceptualizing long cycles. Never have.

    You mean the physical beings? YES, but even Judaism believes in energy and matter....adaptive energy can not die...and those people will still be there in energy format...

    If there are no thinking beings, does it matter what state the long dead humans are in. Humans are animals and as a species they will go extinct like all species eventually do. I believe we have a limited window to become a multi-world species and if we don't make it we will pass into oblivion that much sooner.

    If the big bang was the start of time, then asking what came "before" it is meaningless. Just because we can form a grammatically correct question doesn't mean there is an answer. For example: how many sides does the color red have? Or, what is the speed of bacon?

    It was the beginning of time for our local universe only. Every universe in the multiverse has it's own time and the multiverse itself has it's own time.
