I have a newer Toshiba laptop that seems to have issues, one of which is Chrome browser errors. Sometimes when I load a page the browser can't fully display it, and I get a message window asking me if want to "Kill the page" or "wait." I've tried dumping and reloading Chrome, but it still has the same problem. I've even had this problem when loading Sciforums. This is the only computer where chrome hasn't worked properly. I've always been a loyal user of Chrome, yet this issue has caused a lot of problems.

    System:
    Toshiba Satellite L55
    Intel Core I3
    6GB Memory
    Windows 8

Try using Avant. It is essentially a front end for IE, Firefox, and Chrome. You can switch among them at any time.

It was the "waiting" and outright grinding to a halt that caused me to abandon Chrome a few years ago in one older computer it was installed on. I assumed then that Chrome was just a resource hog, and blamed it on that PC's low memory (1GB) and single-core processor. But apparently that's a theory that can be tossed out the window now.

While I have at least tried a chromium-based browser since then (Opera), I'm too outdated now to be familiar with the latest quirks of Chrome itself. My own personal experiences along with the Chrome horror stories related by others, plus Firefox's mature add-ons, keep me a contented patron of the latter browser.

Though if FF keeps getting any more bloated (hovering around a 40MB or more download for its installation setup now), I may switch to Comodo's "Ice-Dragon" variation purely out of futile protest, impotent spite, and really not escaping the bloat at all. I also long for the days when the major upgrades to Firefox happened in terms of months or years rather than every six weeks or whatever. Quicker major upgrades were fun for awhile, but the honeymoon's long over now.

I had v24? v28? for a very long time, finally giving into the nag screen. I have been unhappy with FF ever since. Installed flash control hoping to speed load times. It helped some.

I blame website bloat more than FF though. It seems with so many adverts there are script conflicts occurring that are slowing things down. Plus the gearing to mobile devices seems to be affecting my browsing.

Chrome gives me problems on one system that I don't see on a different system, which leads me to believe there is some conflict going on a that specific machine.

Back in 2012 to 2013, there were accounts of a few Toshiba Satellite owners experiencing similar problems with Chrome after they upgraded to Windows 8. Apart from speculations along the line of a missing .dll file being the cause (etc), no good remedy / research was offered by experts since the vast majority of Toshiba users went unaffected. A good part of the sufferers reported back later that they had given up after the routine solutions repeatedly failed (i.e., they moved on to a different browser).

As a last resort you might try the Dragon browser, which is just Chrome with Comodo's beefed-up security (all the add-ons of Chrome should install and work with it). Maybe some of Comodo's tweaks might bypass whatever is snagging regular Chrome.
