*facepalm* More pseudo-science buzzwords that scare people into thinking a specific thing is the problem... ergo, it's bullshit.

Every person is different and has different nutritional needs to suit different environments, levels of activity, and metabolic rates. Ultimately, if you want to lose weight, you need to burn more fuel (calories) than you eat. The way to do that is to eat filling foods, plenty of fiber, stay hydrated, and get the nutrients you need. Failing any of those will cause you to feel hungry (your body WILL demand food if you are lacking something in your diet) and want to eat more, which will erode your resolve. This is why starvation diets don't work.

Now, as Cris said above - you can also adjust your diet to boost metabolism... however, again, this is a matter of burning more than you take in.

This past winter I lost 6 pounds in 6 days during a bout of gastroenteritis ("stomach flu"). The first 3 days I ate nothing, and spent a lot of time in the bathroom or in bed. The next 3 days I ate 1 canned pear in the AM and 1 canned pear in the PM each day. With difficulty. I walked my daily 7 miles days 2 - 6 rather than run them and got very little else accomplished. The 7th day I returned to my normal routines.

Gained the weight back in another week.

Type II diabetes is cureable , we know this right people ?

The only type of diabetes which is not curable is type I , which is where the immune system attacks the insulin its self.

I reccomend eating or taking Bitter Lemon for diabetes.

In addition to being a food ingredient, bitter melon has also long been used as a herbal remedy for a range of ailments, including type 2 diabetes.

The fruit contains at least three active substances with anti-diabetic properties, including charantin, which has been confirmed to have a blood glucose-lowering effect, vicine and an insulin-like compound known as polypeptide-p.

These substances either work individually or together to help reduce blood sugar levels.

It is also known that bitter melon contains a lectin that reduces blood glucose concentrations by acting on peripheral tissues and suppressing appetite - similar to the effects of insulin in the brain.

This lectin is thought to be a major factor behind the hypoglycemic effect that develops after eating bitter melon.
A number of clinical studies have been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of bitter melon in the treatment of diabetes.

...sadly, none of those 'number of clinical studies' has hit Science News yet. Wonder why?
