A mysterious 'pyramid' has been discovered on the surface of Mars that proves the existence of alien life claim a group of UFO hunters.

The pyramid-shaped object was found by the paranormal YouTube channel ParanormalCrucible and supposedly shows an artificial object that mimics the Great Pyramids of Ancient Egypt.

It was found buried within video footage from NASA's Curiosity rover however ParanormalCrucible claim that NASA deliberately chose not to take any more footage of the shape.
The site says: "Due to the size of the object about the scale of a small car I would theorize that the artefact is either the capstone of a much larger pyramid possibly buried deep beneath the surface or perhaps a marker stone."
One does wonder then why they would allow one picture to go unchecked and yet hold back hundreds of others.
    The Ceres 'pyramid'
Incredibly though this isn't the first pyramid-shaped object to be discovered outside of Earth.
NASA's Dawn Spacecraft is currently getting ever closer to the mysterious dwarf planet Ceres. The photos its been sending back however have had the world more than a little puzzled thanks to the discovery of two shining lights seen on the surface.
While NASA is yet to come up with an explanation for the lights, it has also discovered what looks to be a gigantic three-mile high pyramid on its surface.

The enormous structure appears to be naturally made, however no-one's really sure how it got there or indeed why it ended up becoming such a perfect pyramid.
Dawn is expected to get closer to the planet in the coming days with the next batch of images expected to come through post-30 June so hopefully we should know more by then.

Let me be the first to say Thank You, for posting this stupid crap in the proper section. Maybe it would have been best to go right to the cesspool, but this is close enough.

Every journey starts with the first step (towards the cesspool in this case). Let's hope it won't be a 1.000 mile journey.

why does it "have" to be artificial...?

Isn't the pyramid simply an example of one of those pebbles that gets sculpted by wind blown sand in deserts. I don't remember what they are called - it's german sounding, I think. They have three of four faces oriented in relation to seasonal wind directions. There are at least two other objects in the picture that have a similar shape, though not as perfectly pyramidal. Out of the many thousands of such rocks that will have been captured on camera by Mars' rovers, it doesn't seem surprising that couple of them at least could have this form. Actually, I think I could make a case for censorship by NASA if none had been found.

Right you are, they are called ventifacts.

Here is a picture of one from Antarctica.

<--- Note applicable current avatar. It's an industry -- scouring NASA images for any natural formations that a myth framework can be built around garners media attention, blog hits, news and site revenue, interviews, publication contracts, etc. The face of the Cydonia region has worn out its profitability after additional debunking via higher resolution photos of later Mars probes, so the quest for new marketing treasures continues.

In an age of rapid information distribution and insider tattletales who can benefit by doubling as crusaders with noble reasons for their disclosures, NASA couldn't maintain a real coverup for a week even if they had actual cause and valid motives for doing so.

HAHAHAHAHAHA I thought that word surfaced from within my subconscious mind from someone in sciforums!

Yes, that's it. Although I looked up ventifact and the word I had been trying to recall was dreikanter, which is a three faced pyramid (+base) like the one you pictured.

OMG was that a toast obama? Anyway, I saw somewhere that the photo in question had been altered, and the un-altered version doesn't look much like a pyramid.

Zooming in closer, the thing almost does resemble the Giza species itself blatantly photoshopped on the terrain. But it is part of the raw or original image. Replete with a NASA member vouching for it, along with the expected dismissal of either being a rillstone or a perspective illusion, or combination of both. As he also mentions elsewhere, the raw picture features other rougher rocks with pointy, polyhedron-like appearances.

"In an interview with USA TODAY Network, [Jim] Bell confirms the validity of the image, taken May 7, but says it's not uncommon for natural rock formations to appear as recognizable objects. 'The human eye is good at recognizing familiar shapes or human features in random objects,' Bell says. He points to a 2008 image taken on Mars that some people said looked like a Yeti. 'The picture looked like a mythical creature, but pictures from different angles show it's just a funny shaped rock,' Bell says."

Both of these photographs interest me.

The curiosity rover photo apparently shows a Martian hillside, scattered with rocks. It's hard to judge with photos like this, but the rocks probably aren't very large. Whatever this thing is, it isn't a huge architectural structure.

The striking aspect of this thing is its perfect geometrical shape. That does suggest the possibility that it's an artifact. (It's foolish to deny that just because it doesn't conform to one's preconceptions.)

The first thing I'd want to do is move the rover around and get photos from different angles. Does it retain its geometrical form from different perspectives?

I notice that there are at least two imperfectly formed pyramids off to the right of the perfect pyramid in the center of the photo. There's also a rock in the foreground that displays a smooth face. That suggests to me that some 'geological' process was at work in this locality. (Since 'geo' refers to Earth, what do planetary scientists call analogous processes on different planets?)

The smooth faces might suggest that the rocks have a crystalline structure that causes them to fracture along planes and causes the fractures to occur at particular angles.

So the second thing I'd want to do is move the rover up to one of these rocks displaying smooth faces and put its boring and analysis tools to work. What minerals is the rock composed of? What do we know about those materials here on Earth? How might they behave in the temperature extremes experienced on Mars?

Third, I'd want to see a close photographic inspection of the pyramid. Does it show any signs of having been intentionally worked?

I don't want to rule out the possibility that it's an artifact entirely, but I'd give that hypothesis a fairly low probability. (It doesn't deserve to be ridiculed though.)

The idea that the Ceres things are artifacts is less persuasive in my opinion.

There aren't "lights" on Ceres' surface, they are white spots, or rather spots with strikingly high albedo (spots that reflect lots of incident light). There are more than two of these white spots on Ceres. Some (not all) of them are colder than the surrounding surface. Some of the spots are raised relative to the surface around them, some dramatically so, some even rising like mountains above the rims of the craters in which they are located. Others may be depressions containing ice or places where meteor impacts blasted away a darkened surface to expose a layer of more pristine ice beneath. (What chemistry causes the surfaces of the outer minor-planets to darken, as seems to typically happen with them?)

While NASA hasn't 'explained' the white spots, no end of hypotheses have been advanced as to what they are. (The literature is filled with talk about them.) There's likely more than one process at work.

Most of the hypotheses about the raised mountain-like white spots seem to revolve around water vapor out-gassing that freezes and falls back as something like snow, or alternatively cryo-volcanoes, where ice and liquid water take the place of rock and molten magma. I'm inclined to suspect that there might be an element of truth to both theories, with the 'snow' playing a role analogous to volcanic ash. (The argument among the planetary scientists then turns to how much heat energy is likely to be available inside Ceres to power these processes.)

    Me too.

That could be a dead giveaway as to whether or not its natural or alien made.

It seems so. The rover will be observing it more closely by August.

The question I'd like to know is "how similar is this structure to earthly pyramids?"

Excellent hypothesis. What processes could have occurred on Mars and what kind of atmospheric conditions could have caused this? Hopefully these questions will be answered by August.

    Does seem that way.

    Agreed.

The Ceres pyramid appears much older and worn out than the Mars one.

Another great hypothesis Yazata. I would not have guessed that.
