What if an arms dealer is paying ISIS to do all of this so that more money is spent on arms and military action? So far no one as yet has found out exactly where the money is coming from that ISIS is using. True some money is coming from oil sales but where did ISIS get all the money from to start them up? ISIS needed to buy allot of arms before undertaking their war on everyone so before they even took over an oil refinery they had allot of money and I think arms dealers gave that money to them to begin with. Funny no one has ever looked into this before.

Yah, the systematic eavesdropping of British Intelligence upon Nazi POWs revealed that everyday Germans had been become sadists, rapists, butchers, etc simply from having an authority that either sanctioned such activity or had an apathetic regard for what their leaders and troops did along the way.

Also, few would excuse the diverse members of the first movement of the KKK as being insane; and especially those carrying-out the supposedly milder barbarism of the larger, second wave of the 1920s. Similarly, the "good ol' boys" of this arid, patriarchal tradition just want to restore the unity once realized by the Ottoman Empire. Deeming such a vast and all-embracing version of a new "Islamic State" as finally being capable of banishing for good the Western cultural influences, political manipulations, resource-parasitism and military invasions [including Jews or Israel, of course]. The North American radicals "neck-tied" and building-burned "coloreds". Desert extremists decapitate and burn infidels (as well as intimidate / eradicate non-fundamentalists of their own religion).

Elaine Frantz Parsons: Lifting the Klan mask revealed a chaotic multitude of antiblack vigilante groups, disgruntled poor white farmers, wartime guerrilla bands, displaced Democratic politicians, illegal whiskey distillers, coercive moral reformers, sadists, rapists, white workmen fearful of black competition, employers trying to enforce labor discipline, common thieves, neighbors with decades-old grudges, and even a few freedmen and white Republicans who allied with Democratic whites or had criminal agendas of their own. Indeed, all they had in common, besides being overwhelmingly white, southern, and Democratic, was that they called themselves, or were called, Klansmen. --Midnight Rangers: Costume and Performance in the Reconstruction-Era Ku Klux Klan

Eric Foner: In effect, the Klan was a military force serving the interests of the Democratic party, the planter class, and all those who desired restoration of white supremacy. Its purposes were political, but political in the broadest sense, for it sought to affect power relations, both public and private, throughout Southern society. It aimed to reverse the interlocking changes sweeping over the South during Reconstruction: to destroy the Republican party's infrastructure, undermine the Reconstruction state, reestablish control of the black labor force, and restore racial subordination in every aspect of Southern life. --Reconstruction: America's Unfinished Revolution]

'Fanatics' might be a better word, since fanatics of the left can be just as evil as fanatics of the right.

Like many psychiatric diagnoses, that seems to be in the eye of the beholder. Unfortunately, there aren't many objective scientific tests for a lot of this stuff, the way that biopsies and blood-tests can diagnose more physiological diseases.

The effect of doing that is to shift moral responsibility away from Emwazi, towards whatever supposedly 'caused' his pathology. CAGE would have us believe that was 'harassment' by the British authorities. Others favor the theory that it was a brain injury that was responsible. As for me, I'm inclined to think that Emwazi is responsible for his own actions. In saying that, I'm acknowledging his humanity, not denying it.

I would say the same thing about the more extreme forms of radical Islamism. It's an ideology that makes perfect sense if one accepts its rather doubtful presuppositions. It's probably a more consistent reading of Islamic tradition than some more modernist interpretations. If one really believes that God has revealed for everyone and for all time how he wants the world run, and if one really believes that God's infallible revelation takes the form of the crude and at times savage sensibility of 7th century Arabia, then the Islamic State makes perfect sense. Islamic tradition calls for beheading in some circumstances, just as it calls for killing blasphemers and adulterers.

Obviously we would expect people to possess human empathy and compassion, which might prevent them from behaving as God supposedly demands. That's true for most Muslims, I guess. An individual in whom empathy and compassion are absent might correctly be called a 'psychopath'.

But it is easy to imagine how the intoxicating feeling that one is on the side of the angels, surfing the preordained and inevitable wave of history while fighting God's battle in the apocalyptic showdown between Islamic good and pagan evil, might overwhelm more humane considerations.

Self-righteous fanaticism can effectively turn normal human beings into something very similar to a clinical 'psychopath'. History provides no end of examples.

The Washington Post published an interview with a recent graduate of Westminster University. She basically called the place a piece of shit. There are no rules; it looks to me like what we call "party schools" in the USA. She said there are a lot of students spouting Islamist propaganda and the faculty and administrators don't give a damn.
That is, unfortunately, not an uncommon phenomenon. Kids who grow up getting everything they want from parents who are not doing their jobs often turn out to be unclear on concepts such as morality and fairness.

It's not much of an exaggeration to say that they actually hate their parents, and by analogy they hate all grownups.

Ya, you're right. I stumbled across this video today. At first, he sounds reasonable but about 10 minutes into it he starts to lose it.
