Probably the correct action to take brucep, I'm just rather happy to not be living next door to someone so, how can I put this kindly? so Unusual??

Seattle, everything you stated above makes sense.

However, the articles linked by paddoboy are about 5 planets, all smaller than Earth, and all orbiting too close to their Star to be in any "habitable" zone...

As far as what I think, Seattle?
Life exists in many different forms.

Seattle, why must you introduce "God" into a discussion on Science?

I think you may have hit the nail fair square on the head. The same poster also dismisses the BB, and has doubts on galactic formation.

I agree that those planets wouldn't seem to support life.

Regarding introducing "God" into this conversation...whether I'm right or not I think I pointed out in my post why I introduced it.

So...why are you introducing "God did it (regarding life)" into this discussion?

    Well accusations I can support.
Do you deny dismissing the BB?
Have you been in error in the past re Galactic formations and growth?
Do you doubt the certainty of Evolution re life?
Do you have any other hypothesis in regards to Abiogenesis?
Just trying to work out where you are coming from.

Are you saying that "God did it" isn't your main problem with the subject of planets and the search for life?

    Your question:
    dumbest man on earth asked....
What does an Earth sized planet have to do with "life" in the universe?

Now since you don't seem to accept that as an answer, or perhaps you do not understand the significance of an Earth sized [so subsequently rocky] meaning if in the habitable zone, it could support life as we know it.

And again since you seem to have missed the inference of the article itself, the formation of Earth sized planets and smaller 11 billion years ago, leaves the scope for evolution of life more time and chance.

    Slow your roll, there Seattle!!!

What "problem with the subject of planets and the search for life" are you Posting about?

Is there a particular "God" doing a specific "it" that you are referring to?

This thread is primarily about the discovery of Earth sized planets around an 11 billion year old star.....
This thread is about the logical inference that gives a far greater scope for the natural, logical processes of Abiogenesis and Evolution.
That's what this thread and the article is about.

There's that uatoabh thing again. Last time it was deemed as trolling. Will this be different?

Tune in next week... Where I'll still be wondering what that nonsense word even mean, dmoe will still stalk paddo's every post, people will try to help tc understand that light is not whatever tc thinks it is and Farsight will continue to refuse doing any maths.

A reasonable Oxygen atmosphere and water would be two prime indicators, particularly the former

Or a frozen surface such as Europa?

Bloody oath it would! Liquid water being able to exist on the surface, which is part of the "goldilocks zone" definition, and again a reasonable Oxygen atmosphere. I don't think though as yet though we can detect such biomarker gasses within an extra solar planet atmosphere....

Yep, particularly if the core was still molten.
Our own magnetic field is believed to be generated deep down in the Earth’s core...couple this with rotation at different rates from the surface/crust, and we have the ingrediants for a reasoanble magnetic field.

    Kepler Detects an Exoplanet Atmosphere

August 6, 2009: NASA's new exoplanet-hunting Kepler space telescope has detected the atmosphere of a known giant gas planet, demonstrating the telescope's extraordinary scientific capabilities. The discovery will be published Friday in the journal Science.
    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Probably not too long before we are able to detect biomarkers such as Oxygen.

Even oxygen isn't necessary for a planet that could have or had life. Earth didn't always have an atmosphere with sufficient oxygen.

Detection of Oxygen, or even Ozone, would still be a good signature to speculate for life......On Earth molecular oxygen is produced mostly by the photosynthesis of plants....If at the same time, we detect water or CO2.
Also of course CH4 or N2O would be highly gratifying as these gases are produced by biological processes.
A collection of that lot and we would have some very happy AstroBiologists.
