Saturday night and in a short time i ll leave to a bar but before i was just looking at the drink in my hand and thinking. Why do we drink beer? So, ask this question to yourself.. why do you drink beer? It helps you make things that you normally wouldnt dare. The concept of logic goes away. If logic is so bad then why do we have it? because you can't make it through your senior year without it. my roomies and i have stopped coming up with excuses to drink. we were at the store and said 'ooh we have to remember to get a few cases for finals coming up'.

Beer is good. it's an aquired taste though. and I aint talking about the Bud lite and whatnot that passes for beer. I mean the real stuff. GUINESS!! oh and if you want to get drunk? try some 151. cheap and quick.
Beer is the drink of the gods. Guiness is the chosen drink of the Goddess. after all the gods gave it to the irish for the good of all. I drink because i love the taste and it always tastes good after a long day at work

I remember talking to an older neighbor of mine when I was a teen-ager. Me: "Beer tastes pretty nasty. Why would anyone drink it?" Him: "To get a little buzzed. It feels good." Me: "Liquor will do the same thing and it actually can taste good. Do you LIKE the taste of beer?" Him: "No one LIKES the taste of beer at first. It's an acquired taste." Me: "But why would you WANT to acquire the taste? Liquor works faster, better, already tastes good, doesn't give you a beer belly, doesn't leave you bloated etc... So WHY drink beer?" I don't know, I just started drinking it because it was there. Its just cheaper and simpler than liquor. I prefer rum but I drink beer more often, it is an aquired taste you start liking it after a while and its really great when its hot and you've been doing some physical activity or something. It never really tasted that bad to me.
I liked the taste of beer the first time I drank it, and I still like it. I don't get drunk off of it, only one or two after work, or maybe a scotch. If I want to get drunk, I drink vodka or rum.
I'm sure everyone is going to hate this but: I don't advocate drinking to get drunk, just the same as I don't advocate doing drugs. If you can't do something sober, it's not a good decision/thing to do. It slowly destroys your body, kills brain cells...but that's not my major complaint...I really don't care what you people do to your bodies. I'm just down on the fact that people would drink to: forget their lives, have sex??? (OMG!), 'party'?...as if you can't have fun without acting like an idiot. It's just aggrivating that people in college think that's what the whole experience is about...making the wrong choices. I do drink, but not beer. I think it tastes disgusting, but I also hate the taste of apples, cheese, root beer...normal stuff that people like. I will drink, but not for any of these reasons. I do like the taste of other types of alcohol, and it's nice to get a little buzz.
Funny though, most wines are about 12 proof while beer is typicaly 5 proof. I get such a hangover from wine (especialy Red) I easily prefer beer for this reason, when I can often have no or little hangover the next day. edit: added, beer = cheap
It wouldn't be 12 and 5 proof, rather 24 and 10 proof. Example: 80 proof is 40% alcohol... The neutral alcohol I make at home (23 liters' worth!) is 24-30 proof! Not bad, eh ?
