lol yes that it why I said almost there I see the gap they are lacking but I will stay silent I want to see how long its takes for them to catch it I don't believe string theory has much validity just my opinion but there is a gem here that is the only reason I posted "don't throw the baby out with the bath water" although no love lost for minds of Princeton university after all we all are after the same goal of "unification..."

The problem with string theory and its derivitives, is that we just do not have the technology to observe at such levels as yet.
They make much more sense than any holographic/simulation hypothesis though.

As I just said, string theory and its derivitives has much more going for it then any silly holographic/Simulation hypothesis.
Our problem is observing at those levels.
Someone also said [Can't remember who] that string theory was 21st century physics that accidently fell into the 20th Century. [or words to that effect]
And we are only slightly more than a decade into it yet.
The same can be said for any QGT at this time.

    Hope that helps.

That was probably an optimistic string theorist!

If the real universe is flat and without gravity,
would that make a black hole just a hole?

And with only one time zone. Much simpler and beautiful too. Who needs holograms anyway?

Sorry for being off topic, but I just had a little epiphany on this topic. Imagine if this was true, that the entire universe was a hologram and what we think is here, is in fact does not really exist. Than where are we than, really? What if the universe and everything in it does not exist and singularity from which this universe is thought to have come from is in reality the only point of existence and that all our "consciousness" is it. just a thought.

According to the theory it is the universe that we see which is an illusion.
We still exist, but in the flat universe which we can't see.

Thread title applies to APL/JHU's New Horizon space craft - First to visit Pluto, and beyond objects. It just sent back first color photos - not just a few pixels but still no resolution. But Camera is working after ~ 9 years space exposure. The good stuff is yet to come.

It's like Russell's orbiting teapot was never found.

What a monumental waste of digital computing resources this universe would be. We could save some by not simulating the guy who came up with the idea that this is all a simulation. He wasn't the first, either.

If that isn't returning to Ptolemy's human centered universe (or a human mind centered universe), I don't know what is. Here's how to test his hypothesis. Smash his head. If we all dissappear, he was right. If we don't, keep smashing heads until we do disappear.

Whomever smashes the last head before we dissappear, please let us know how the holographic simulation worked out, and who was responsible for running it this badly. Particularly the bit about smashing heads. Okay, so maybe a simulation this bad is a clue that it couldn't possibly be real. Or serious.

When symbols on any computing device can describe and simulate a grain of salt and its relationship to the rest of the universe down to the last quark, I'll eat my alphabet and all the numbers and math too. You can always tell a lunatic. You can tell them, but don't be surprised when they ignore whatever you said.
