Hi, There's this wierd project in which I need to make a media product (poster, computer graphic, poem, etc.) which would convince young people not to choose to smoke, or convince smokers to quit. It also has to be related a bit to science, for it is our science teacher who transformed a voluntary project into schoolworkPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!. I just would like to have as many ideas as possible, for I really haven't ben able to come up with anything. Thanks!
Have like a malbro cowboy and have it say tobbacco supports cowboys. Or like a guy out a breath and this girl all like Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! and have it say smoking can affect your sexual performance.
Weed is for Liberals. Should make atleast 50% of Americans rethink taking their next joint, hehe. I know the question is for tobbacco, but i just could'nt resist. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! :m:
Try an emphasise some key facts. The main one I find that people are more put of by is that it is an expensive habit. Try and show that they can buy some cool stuff if they don't smoke and tell them how much is wasted a month or year by buying cigarettes. Also the dying part and how they die young will help you enormously
Thanks Thor and Salty those are some good ideas. Has anybody heard of the Expose project? That's what this is called.
A day or two after Septebmer the 11, a campaign against gum arabic began to circulate claiming that this ingredient found in soft drinks was linked to Bin laden and Al Quaeda. and from there it pounced the idea that this product was essetially linked to terrorism and therefore anti-American in its presmise. Soft drink sales slipped quite a bit (something like 5%), southern chains hit hardest. And all because of a simple word 'arabic' and American stupidity buying into its own very well known ignorance. So, I say, Alien Mastermind, the best way lies in rallying around the idea that smoking is blasphemeous anti-patriotism, assuming of course your audiance will be American. If so....bingo.
Thanks... but my audience is Canadian. Your strategy would probably not work against Canadian smokers. Thanks anyway.
How about linking smoking to your indigenous people? Nothing stirs action like prejudice, no? I hear Quebec is on the verge of cessation.
why not do a 3D computer graphic of some damaged lungs, and have it offer options to click on and see damaged areas. Make it as disgusting as possible, and if I smoked, it would put me off. Maybe have money attached to each bit to, saying something like '$100 worth of tar' perhaps? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Hope that helps.
Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I don't have the kind of software nor the knowledge to produce such a model...
A picture of the tar that builds up on the lungs always does it for me Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Have a picture of a bunch of beautiful model people smoking but change it to have their hair all stringy and nasty with yellow teeth and red rimmed eyes.
One word kazaa..ok so two words..kazaa and maya, lighwave 3d or 3d studio max. But they are very hard to use so you might be in a tiff there. Attack the people's vanity. People won't stop smoking even though they know that cigarettes can kill them but tell them the affect they have on their looks. You teeth get yellow, you start to look ugly eventually. That should help...people care more about their looks rather then their lives these days so attacking their vanity would be your strong point.
A good way... Wheel in a lung cancer patient into your classroom. Someone who is about 55 years old and a smoker of about 35 years. Have him beg your class through quivering lips and tearful eyes to quit smoking. Have him tell your class, between choking sobs, how he imagines his children will remember him. About How he would like to be there for them. Have him admit how scared he is to die and how he trembles every night before going to sleep. And then make your class watch in abject terror as he lights up a cigarette, takes a puff then wetly coughs up a chunk of black noxious phlegm. Pass it around the class and have each person take a good close look at it. Observe their reactions and film everything. The film will be your finished product. You should pass.
i like machaon's idea except instead of an older person get some young 20 year old to that. i think if you prove that it can happen at a young age it might work better.
Thanks guys, thanks very much for putting in so many ideas. Many of these I might use: I also like machaon's and rodisgod's idea, but unfortunately I don't have a digital cameraPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Thanks a lot.
