One of the things I don't understand about Christianity is the homophobia,homosexuality is attributed the the sin of lust,but you can't help who you find attractive,and yes,gay and bi people can be very sexual,but you can heterosexuals,and than there is transgenderism,they seem to confuse thins with homosexuality,but transgenderism isn't even about your feelings towards other,it's about the sense of self and again,it can't be helped,and not all gay and bi people are perverts,some just want a regular relationship with their partner,and conversion therapy doesn't work,even the people who claimed that they can change you are admitting it doesn't work,I just don't get how they can believe god will punish people for something that they can't help.
If the Bible was truly the word of an omniscient god, he would know that. But believers don't let facts get in the way of faith.
That's why they have to maintain that homosexuality is a "lifestyle choice", as if there was a point when I deliberately decided to be attracted to the same sex. And as long as my orientation is "chosen" then it's my fault. It's a continuing tradition dating back thousands of years demonizing gay people as perverts and sinners who are only after sex. How do you reverse 2500 years of bigotry and hate that is learned from religion and culture? You get to know more and more people, until you see that the gay ones are humans just like you are. You have more and more famous people coming out and demonstrating that being gay is as normal and non-disabling as being straight is. The homophobes will never listen to the science on this. But they can't resist the cultural sea change to be accepting of all people regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
They condemn people for many things that they can't help. All are included in the group of simply being human. Their fairy tale has their OMNIPOTENT god creating humans then quickly condemning them for being the humans it created them to be. Which, honestly, only an imbecile brat would do. It certainly is not wise, intelligent or sane. May as well condemn dogs for not being cats.
The choice issue is important yet even if it were a choice, that would not mean consenting adults should not have those rights & it would not excuse the childish fear & hate against them. They also often penalize & persecute heterosexuals who do not adhere to their supposed sexual code. I hope you are right with your last sentence.
most abrahmic priest have high expectation from their people. so rules made for people to become ideal creatures of creation. this idealness almost never accompanished by all people. the result is persecutions. people should tell them not to have any great expectations from them. i suppose they understand.
Some people can, some can't. But that's sorta beside the point. Lust itself isn't bad, no more so than hunger, or fatigue, or any other basic human drive. What matters is what you do with that drive.
I have more respect for a homosexual who comes out so they may live honestly than someone who keeps it a secret and lives a miserable lie.
