There was some suggestion somewhere about Imagemagick being able to resize animated GIF's but it's really dependent on if the software is using that or the GD+ library (If it's the later then it needs to be changed over if it can)

What are the advantages of this new format?

It is safer. We were getting hacked constantly while we were using vBulletin. And frankly, our emails, etc were no longer safe. The site was constantly under attack from hackers and there was no way to protect the site from them.

I have to say, I am finding it difficult to even post on this site now, since the change over, due to issues that have arisen since the switch. I get constant error messages each time I click on anything and to avoid that, I have to keep opening everything I try to do in new tabs. I have lost a lot of access to many things I should not have lost and the list goes on and on. There are apparently things missing on my screen that everyone else has and I do not. But at the very least, at least this one is a bit safer compared to the other one. Time will tell of course, but change is not always what we want, but this is one of those things where it had to happen.

I'm posting this from a public computer at my local library.

For the last few days, the new system was cumbersome and difficult, but generally speaking it still worked.

This morning, I found that the latest 'improvement' (mathjax) is so utterly incompatible with my old browser that all I'm getting now is an error message that says the I.E. is unable to open Sciforums.com and that the operation is aborted.

So... that's it, the decision's been forced on me. I'm hanging up my 'Yazata' persona and will no longer be participating on Sciforums.

I've known several of you for many years, on several different boards, and I just wanted to report in one last time to say 'goodbye'.

I'd tell Yazata he will be greatly missed, but if advice isn't getting through to him on how to remedy his problems [by even dropping Internet Explorer (IE) for a better browser if necessary] then apparently our imploring farewells will be passed by, too. IMO, things have greatly improved since the last time I visited here.

Can't say I blame him for being frustrated, though. I was just about to hang a "Gone on indefinite vacation" in the avatar square if some major changes didn't happen soon.
