Some of the lower two-thirds of SF is an ornamental facade, like gargoyles and other fantasy creatures architecturally adorning the exterior of an old institution. Those subforums have the appearance of being functional and their on-topic submitters tolerated as long as they confine their subjects to those places. But as you've discovered, your commencing a discussion like this can be [civilly?] endured here little more than if posted to the top sections. There may be condiments like a thread being less likely to be moved or sent to cesspool, and less likely to garner you a ban right off the bat. But that's about it for the freebies.

This place is a stagnant pool. Teeming with squabbling petty little mice children. With few exceptions you haven't the capacity to instruct. You feed on the violently collective vomit and lick your wounds while this place already writhes in the agony of death. You know this and you can do nothing about it.
