Well tv works, and thats like a hypnotic box in your home.

It plays a major influence in your life and what you people believe about the world. So i would think there is something to it.

Thats as far as i would go.

Years ago govs would want big camps or prisons for society, but today they know the best place for most of the public is in front of there tv. I mean the best place for gov. This is for the majority obviously as we still need prisons for a minority, that go to far.

Hypnosis is real... the problem is that we have very strange interpretations of what it can do.

In general, all Hypnosis is is a form of guided self-trance and/or self-fulfilling prophesy; this can be used to aid in meditation, to recall memories, overcome trauma, and even to push the boundaries of the human body. The important thing to note, though, is that you CANNOT be hypnotized if you don't WANT to be. You must surrender to it voluntarily or else it will not work. This is a problem for many people; they believe it won't work, and so it doesn't work. It isn't quite a placebo effect... but without the belief in it, you essentially combat the very effect you are trying to achieve.

Can you do what magicians do on stage and convince someone they are a chicken? Well, yes... though not in such a short timespan. Suggestive thinking/reasoning is in fact very powerful... but in order to do something that so contradicts a persons normal sense of self like that, you would have to put someone in a very deep trance state AND have their full, total, implicit trust. You can, rather easily, use hypnosis to help assuage a friends fears, if they are willing to work with you and believe they can overcome said fear with your help.

Hypnotism can not, in almost any circumstances, be used to make a person do something that he has a strong aversion to. For example, a hypnotist cannot convince a woman in a trance to have sex with him if she is happily and faithfully married.

However, there are tricks that sometimes work. He might be able to convince her that he is her husband--if he has met the man and can impersonate him reasonably well.

Exactly. It isn't the "stage magic" we think of... but it does still exist.
