Worse yet, Sister S, 'zymurgy' was the very word with which I ended our alphabet game last round. My my! Two bads of yours and yet by doing 'Z' you have earned the right to select the topic for the next round. (Isn't that so, Squirrel?). IMHO the rules of this ABC Game we've got going are neither hard nor fast. So please. ladies and gentle persons,

    Let's proceed!

So I'm confused. If someone is xanthophobic are they 'yellah'? And if so, would they not scare themselves? It's one of those cycles that are vicious, that's what this is!

And maybe I'm xanthophobic because that photo of Big Mama kind of scares me!

Technically xanthophobia is a medical condition in which the retina of the eye is hypersensitive to the yellow region of the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum. People with this condition therefore avoid yellow light because it makes their eyes uncomfortable and may even harm them – which may cause other people to think they are afraid of yellow light. Xanthophobic people are not so much afraid of yellow as (so you might say) allergic to it.

Shall we continue with obscure words for another round? Because I quite like it.

Bright side: save money on manicures and pedicures.

However, my B word is one of my favorite words for how delicious it feels in my mouth when I say it:

Bifocular (noun) : Being able to focus on two tasks simultaneously; usually used in an office when multitasking. Other related words: trifocular
My husband made it up when I was walking at a beach picking up stones while not trying to be hit by waves. We now use it at work when multitasking. Ex. Sentence: Maybe if you were bifocular, you could have gotten the jobs done! My response is always that I am not bifocular!

Bet it doesn't mean what you thought it meant, yeah?

    From Aristophanes:

It is time, friends, high time to go to the banquet - if we want to have our share of it - to go to the banquet. Open your ranks and let the Cretan rhythms regulate your dances.

    Blepyrus
    That's what I am doing.

    Chorus
And you others, let your light steps too keep time.

Very soon we'll be eating lepadotemachoselachogaleokranioleipsanodrimypotrimmatosilphiotyromelitokatakechymenokichlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonoptokephaliokinklopeleiolagoiosiraiobaphetragalopterygon. Come, quickly, seize hold of a plate, snatch up a cup, and let's run to secure a place at table. The rest will have their jaws at work by this time.

Incidentally that's one word which the server can't quite swallow without chopping it into strips.

That's basically Aristophanes way of saying "it's in there" in the mode of the cook-in-training to his Italian mother-in-law, who is jawboning over the recipe.

    Hello Aqueous Id,

I think you were supposed to demonstrate an unusual word starting with 'D' at this juncture. Allow me to be of assistance.

Oh, you beat me S! I guess now I have a reason to disponge!

Disponge: to sprinkle, as with water from a sponge.

O sovereign mistress of true melancholy,
The poisonous damp of night disponge upon me - Shakspeare
