Rubber glasses.

I'm suffering from chronic foureyedness since age 4 and have used up a large amount of glasses. The most common problem is that they break, the screws loosen and fall off, you can't find them etc, fix it with temporary solutions until you decide to buy new ones. Nowadays glasses don't last longer than a year because the materials are made to fall apart it seems. So today I thought about that and wonder how can one invent better and longer lasting glasses and the idea I got was rubber, rubber glasses. I tried to google it, but google isn't working for me right now.
But even if it exists as an invention, why is it not in common use already? It would be so much better. One can coat them with a thin layer of glossy elastic plastic to make them more comfortable against the skin and for pattern variations of course.

Inventor!
:D

Basketball players who need glasses have special frames. If you google "glasses for basketball" you will get lots of hits.

Can you provide a direct link? As I mentioned, google isn't working for me right now.

If something is resistant to damage and doesn't have parts that need replacing, it will likely not require a warranty. Most corporations take the angle that a product that requires accessories, replacement parts and extra warranty periods increases their potential turnover, which makes shareholders happy. So due to corporate greed we get shafted with inferior merchandise.

Yes, but if the product becomes trendy and encompasses new features then it might have a chance to enter the common market.
How far away are the "iGoggles" for example and what material should they be made in?

People are already complaining that their phones are breaking constantly and new flexible materials are on the rise.

iGoggles with visioncorrection aswell as all the it-features, in neonpink rubber with bunnyears on top.

If you can get them try getting Nike or Rayban frames. I have used the same frames for about 5 years now. Did break an arm but it only cost me $5 for a new one and as for screws if they fall out (which hasn't happened for either of those 2 sets of frames) any optometrist will fix that for free here

iGoggles are obsolete before they've even gotten off the board.

There's more of a direction in BCI (Brain Computer Interfacing) that can utilise radio-frequency networks to not just allow the brain to be recognised for a particular patterns to create an interface but also allow for imagines/video no to dissimilar from a dream to be implanted directly into a persons head. That coupled with Bone reverberation techniques to place audio and who needs all the gadgets when your using a networked cloud system and your own head as a terminal.

You're way too far into the future Stryder. iGoggles could be readymade tomorrow and out in stores by the end of the week.

About the same pricerange for normal glasses here in Sweden, or at least for my specific prescriptions. Are there no screws loosening on those?

I had the screw loosening problem with every previous pair of glasses until I switched to Flexon frames. I have had two pairs in the last 10 years and never a loose screw on either pair. Maybe I just got lucky, but those are the facts of the matter. :)

Rubber

Isn it a petrolium base "rubber"? To be maleable it need to be mixed, and it heat up pretty fast, so don't forget to take them off while on the beach! And forget about the lenses, they will be on the car floor if forgotten on the dash! Hi! Hi! Hi!
