i am doing a paper on the pyramids and why the egyptians appear not to have the technology to do so. I was wondering if anyone knew any books or websites or simply had any ideas concerning this topic.

I thought that some other race might of made the pyramids before the egyptians saw it which might explain why there are no markings on the wall and no references made about how the egyptians made the pyramid.

The pyramid in question is the Great Pyramid of Giza

I would greatly appreciate any kind of input you have on the subject.

I'd be interested in knowing if you come across any mention of the ability of "that" perfect geometric shape being able to retain
"energy" for long periods of time. Either positive, negative, psyco,
or paranormal.(I don't know what kind of energy. That IS what I want to know.)
I've met a woman who had a pyramid frame made of wood in her living room. She read tarrot cards while sitting under it and she wouldn't let anyone touch her cards or the pyramid.
There is more to this than what is understood.

Judging by the question and the responses so far, this should be in the "Pseudoscience" forum rather than General Science.

The Egyptians certainly had the technology and the skills to build the Great Pyramid. In fact, they worked their way up to it by first building a number of smaller pyramids, which gradually increased in sophistication as they developed the required skills.

Von Daniken has been convincing discredited. His books are junk.

There is no evidence that pyramid power exists or works. They do not have any special energy-retaining or other mystical properties. (Neither do Tarot cards, while we're at it.)

    Piri Resi the Turkish Sailor

The book i was talking about is very interesting and talks about a civilization that we have no information right now. ( He says that this civilization helped by the building of the Pyramids) He points out the similarities between the pyramids in south america and Egypt. He really makes you think about this issue.
One point really struck me : I think you know about the Turkish Sailor Piri Reis' world map. (This is not a hoax check any source you can find for this map) Its a very famous map and people still dont know how he could make this map in 1513. In the map there is Antarctica which was discovered in 1818! The map shows the ice-free position of Antarctica. The geologists think that the latest time it could have been surveyed like that in ice-free conditions is 4000 BC. As you know in 4000BC. there is no known civilization that had that much technology to accomplish this kind of a task. (The Turkish Sailor Piri Reis says in his notes written on the map that he put the map together with the help of many different sources.

actually if you observed those maps more closely then you would see a land strip between SA and Antartica. THere is that landstrip, but it's under water know. The last time it was geologically possible for it to be above water was 10 to 15 000 years bce

Absolutely right, JR - there was much discussion at conferences with 'modern' civil engineers and archaeologists about how the ancient Egyptians could have moved giant blocks of stone across sand - even TV programmes about the 'problem'. Those of us who had any experience of military engineering agreed - no problem - wet the sand.

If you want to know how something is done - ask people who still do it!

    Cheers,

    ron.

my only problem with the pyramids is why do the egyptians write about how they do everything but the pyramids and why don't the put their writing on all the walls?

I don't have a definitive answer (perhaps there isn't one) but the pyramids were faced with white limestone (marble?) which gave a polished surface that would reflect the sun. Perhaps they simply didn't want to spoil the reflectivity of the surface - it would be like etching a mirror.
