It is now common knowledge that black holes do in fact exist (I assume). Scientists believe that time is altered when nearing/entering the even horizon, correct?

So as with many other things in nature, is it not possible that with study scientists will one day be able to technologically reproduce the effects and alter time?

I would think at the very least the existence of black holes do prove time CAN be altered or atleast slowed.

Heck, time is altered when you are orbiting the Earth. That's why GPS satellite clocks run faster than clocks on the ground.

In theory, we supposedly already have the knowledge to create such a time machine. The only problem is acquiring the amount of energy that it would take for it to actually work or create a portal through time. It has been estimated that it would require about the same amount of energy as the total energy put off by the Sun all concentrated into one machine at the same time. There would be some obvious technical issues that would prevent this, mainly we don't know of anything that could even channel that much energy. It would require a new way to make energy and a new way to then channel that energy.

Time have a meaning only for living creatures, If there are no living being there is no one have interest in the cosmic movements

No need for a scientist to do this. Have a friend go to the basement and you go upstairs to the second floor, time will now pass more quickly for you than your friend in the basement. There you go you have used gravity to alter time - ain't science grand?

the concept of blackholes is precisely what is being used by researchers in the science of time alteration and manipulation however the creation of a black hole on the surface of the earth is not an easy task

Nonsense. There is no science of time alteration and manipulation. This is just crank woo-woo.

What do "polite" and "Sci" have to do with each other?

It's okay. We're almost all laymen here.

@alexg i completely agree mate....what i am suggesting is that the believers are trying to do exactly the same thing as the topic suggested

    The problem is this ;

In order to have time manipulation , how does this technology not involve the whole of the Universe ?

    I'm wondering this, as well.

Somebody's not paying attention. A couple of examples were already given, of time manipulation on a very small scale. One of them does not even utilize electronic technology--or even industrial technology.

Please review post #2 and #5. Perhaps you thought these were jokes. Time really does pass more slowly under these conditions. It's just that the difference is far too small for us to notice, even in a lifetime.

Well we have never seen one, but we are led to believe they exist due to their gravitational interactions on bodies and space/time around them......
And of course they are predicted by GR, and a similar entity called a "Dark Star"is predicted by Newtonian mechanics, and was hypothesised way back as far as 1790??, by a fellow called John Michell.
BH's by the way were more correctly called "Gravitationally Completely Collapsed Objects" but that was a obviously a mouth full to say, so John Archibald Wheeler coined the term BH to make things easier when discussing these beasties.

And yes obviously they do have an effect on time.
Within the EH, or inside the BH, time and space take on proportions that we aren't really too sure about, except to say that space/time is moving towards the Singularity at ">c", hence all paths and all signals can only ever proceed in that direction.
A more dramatic noticable effect of a BH is as follows....
If you and I were travelling towards one, and we stopped our craft at a safe distance away, and I [being the more daring of the two of us

]decided to get into my EVA suit, and head towards the BH to find out what it was like, while you recorded my epic albeit final deed, you would see me gradually approach the EH until just above it......Gradually you see my image getting further and further red shifted along the spectrum, until I finally faded from your view and the view of your instruments.
YOU NEVER SEE ME CROSS THE EH TO MY DOOM AND DESTRUCTION!!!!
From your perspective, time has stopped for me.

But from my perspective, I certainly do cross the EH, and once across am stretched and torn to shreds as I approach the Singularity [due to tidal gravitational effects] until the fundamental components that have gone to make up my body, is broken down into its most basic constitutional parts and oblivion.

Seriously? Cause the laws of physics allow for time distortion to non living. For example: if I accelerate an object, that object ever-so-slightly will move more forward in time faster than it previously did. The satellites which guides GPS has to be adjusted to compensate for this distortion.
