He may not have interpreted the meanings of what you posted correctly but that does not make him stupid. The statements in the quote you posted do sound like over intellectualized metaphors coming from a nerdy romance novel. I enjoy psychology and talking about ego and I and stuff like that but my initial reaction to what you quoted was pretty much the same as Neverfly's. How about rather than calling names, you explain what the quote means in laymen terms. Not everyone on this forum is psychology major. So who is Richard and who is he to the psychology community. I clicked your link but the site is poorly put together and it was hard to find anything giving any indication of Richard's relevance to psychology. In other words, does Richard have any credentials and respect in the human sciences or is he just some newage hippie with wild ideas? If the latter is the case then this belongs in a different forum.

Having had a look at Richard's home page, I notice at the bottom that the PO BOX is for Byron Bay. At a guess, I would say that Richard has been enjoying the fruits of the crop around Nimbin (very close to Byron) a tad too much.... Twoplanker Perhaps you can explain a few things about Richard's ermmm.. psychological state when he discovered his 'self'. And what he means by the last part of his post. Is he suggesting that one can only know one's self when one is about to face death perhaps? Or does one face one's own 'demise' because they have come to understand and know 'I'.. as one would denote one's true self and form?
