Babylon 5: When they showed up too late with the cure that would have saved an entire people.

Star Trek TNG: When Picard lived an entire lifetime on the planet that had long ago been destroyed by the death of its sun... and when he woke up the flute he had learned to play was in a satellite floating outside the Enterprise.

Farscape: The planet on which the heir to the throne had to live for decades as a statue, unable to speak or act but required to just listen and observe. Don't you wish the people who run our planet had to do that?

Star Trek DS9: When they sent Sisko to a conference with false information, knowing that with his reputation for honor he would unknowingly manipulate the Cardassians and Romulans (if I've identified the right bad guys) into signing a treaty. When he found out and complained angrily, they asked him, "What is the honor of one officer, compared to a peace that saved the lives of billions of people?"

Star Trek, the entire new movie . . . .
They found a way to start the entire story over, so we can have more Star Trek without jumping 300 years into an increasingly unfamiliar future. Hooray!
