For the last few months I have experienced itchy, red welts whenever I shower, sweat, or if I have tears that I didn't dry on my face (from the cold). And whenever I drink water, my throat feels sore and swollen, along with my lips. I didn't think much of it, until I had researched my symptoms via the internet to find it was actually possible to be allergic to h20 - or water, as it triggers mast cells on your skin, some people have this allergy and it can cause them to go into shock, cause their skin to peel off, it's not the chemicals in the water because my friend recently spoke of her friend who went to hospital because she developed an allergy to pure water. I am scared my allergy shall become that bad and that I shall have to go into hospital too, there are water molecules in the air..so what shall happen to an individual if they also become allergic towards those? I'd appreciate any advice that you can give, thank you.
possible but unlikely, its incredibly rare for someone to be allergic to water. That being said why are you asking this on an internet board? go to your GP and if necessary get a referral to an allergy clinic
the chances of developing an allergy are quite rare. the symptoms you are telling about, there is a possibility that you are figuring them to be wrong. now think about it your body itself contain roughly 75-80% of water proportion, so how can one be allergic to it?
Is there anything in the water, like flouride? Might be having a reaction to that? Reaction to that can cause an itchy throat and if irritated badly may cause it to swell. This is just a non-educated guess. One might argue that he would notice this from burshing his teath, but maybe he makes no distinction because he must use water in the same process?
not sure... are you suggesting it attracts dust? Is he allergic to mites perhaps? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
If you have high concentrations of sulfur in the water, that could irritate your skin - had that happen to me at a church I went to (a church with well water, go figure) and the water smelled of rotten eggs... washed my hands with it and my hands got all swollen and itchy. If you shower in water like that, I guess it's possible for it to affect you when you sweat/cry because you re-wet the sulfur that's dried to your skin...?
