What do we expect of capitalism? Ah, the capital attraction will overcome common sense and human decency nine times out of ten.
And what is the Republican/Tea Party jobs solution? Get rid of all government regulation. Eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency.
Interestingly, several different federal agencies regulate radioactive contaminants. These regulations are enforced by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the EPA, the DOE, and the DOT (to a lesser extent). Not having overlapping jurisdictions for enforcements, and combining parallel enforcement actions under a single regulatory umbrella, should help reduce the federal expenditure.
It is one thing to reorganize, streamline and make more efficient. It is another to eliminate all regulation.
