    LOL,

But Billy, except as you said, for that one year, you were indeed the product of what you claim were terrible WV public schools, and as bad as you claim them to be, they still did not deny you prosperity.

Interesting. How fortunate you seem to be. I have often felt that the state primary schools often resembled prisons both in appearance and function.

Benedictine survey: Occupy protesters unhappy with Obama

“You have what appears to be a liberal sample that isn’t happy with the Democratic Party right now and isn’t overwhelmingly happy with Obama, his policies and his performance as president.” said Phillip Hardy, an assistant political science professor at the Lisle school.

    Nothing to do with Corporatism.

Has to do with Nevada's Health Regulations.

    Which apparently weren't followed.

And it can indeed be a serious issue when they aren't:

Like the 29 people who recently died because of the Listeria outbreak on Cantalope.

    Study on the issue:

    http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/5/5/pdfs/99-0502.pdf

Now that doesn't mean that the food was bad, but the inspector had to make the call that night and so given what she knew, that the temp regulations weren't followed for the meat, I can't say she made a bad call.

    http://mvprogress.com/2011/11/02/snhd-meets-with-owners-of-quail-hollow-farm-to-resolve-concerns/

Why do they pour bleach on it?

Because they know if they just say don't serve it, then it will be served as soon as they leave.

Do the laws need to be changed to allow this type of local processing which was likely not considered when the laws were passed years ago?

Possibly, but you first change the law, which would include specific changes to accomodate events such as this, then you hold your dinner, not the other way round.

And before you claim these guys are a bunch of food Nazis, here's their web site:

I tend to agree - much too much emphases on rote learning than independent thinking. When in WV elementary school, I had to memorize and spell correctly and list alphabetically all 54 (or 45?) of the county names - God only knows why this useless requirement. I basically hated school, for good reason until about high school.

Even at Cornell there were a few requirements* that for me were pointless (not for some others). Cornell is in part a "land grant school." They must all have ROTC at least when I went there. First year, when I had ROTC, was tough coming from WV schools, and I was dangerously close to GPA = 85 (and much too poor to continue without my full scholarship. Too poor to eat often in the cafeteria - I washed dishes in a Fraternity house for my meals and repaired physics lab equipment for pocket money or baby sat. - a good student job if a crying baby does not bother you when reading for history exam etc. :bugeye: ).

The ROTC class grade, although only 1 credit hour, was thus important to me. It would be 100, if I could, while blind folded, fully disassemble and then re-assemble the fully broken down M-1, in less one minute, naming each part as I did so. I practiced this (stupid for me) task and got the 100 grade. (I'm not sure but that M-1 may be why I graduated!)

    * One graduation requirement some thought stupid, but not me. I thought it wise. Unless you had written medical excuse, you had to swim the length of the pool to graduate.

(Won't let me post the image cuz it's a link.)

So what's the deal with tolerating a moderator who consistently trolls? (And also, I might add, has a habit of posting links or extracts from articles which in fact often contend precisely the opposite of what he purports that they contend? Guess that's not necessarily trolling, maybe just ... stupidity. Or something--Oh, I'll provide backing evidence upon request.)

And also: can someone, possibly one of them there moderator, super moderator (whateverthefuckthatis), or admin types possibly reinstate my old account? Parmalee's account, that is.

Jeese, I didn't even know crazy Bill was a mod. Hmph, guess I don't pay attention. One person's trolling is another person's witty banter. Listen, I support what the protestors are trying to do, but then, I also supported the tea party protestors. You shouldn't take life so seriously that we can't all have some fun. :bugeye:

If all you are going to do is whine and bitch, why do you want to stick around? Shouldn't coming here be an opportunity to have fun, discuss, share, grow, and be exposed to alternative ways of thinking? I can understand getting hot sometimes, I get passionate myself. . . but come on, that was funny!

I find that the people that annoy me the most, and that I annoy the most, have the most to learn from me, and I them. That my friend, is the nature and beauty of wisdom and growing up and getting older. Don't get set in your ways. . . it is the surest path to remaining ignorant and marinating in your own anger and hatred.

Well, it's one thing if it's occasional--or if it's witty; but in the case of the aforementioned, it's neither.

And a previous post in this thread (or that other one--fuck if I know) was an image of protestors with text highlighting their ipods, macbooks, and whatnots--point being, apparently: they're against corporations, but they buy corporate shit. Is that witty? No it's just fucking stupid and way off the mark.

Madant, IIRC, has bitched about "illegals" in the past, are we to conclude that he therefore boycotts food? Cuz he doesn't really strike me as the type who grows his own and/or only buys from local farms and businesses who employ "legals." (Apologies if he does in fact do this.) So, are we to conclude that he is therefore a complete hypocrite and a fucking idiot? Yeah, I guess so.

If they don't like a rule, they just lobby and it gets changed. Where do you see limits on their power?

But then, that said (whateverthehell I said in post #311, that is), a significant portion of them most certainly are (against corporations, that is). I mean, what self-respecting anarchist, freegan, primitivist, anti-globalization-ist, or whathaveyou isn't?

There's something to be said for all that "setting aside differences" for the cause and solidarity shit, but at the same time: I personally am not all that comfortable aligning myself with those who reckon themselves "progressives" or "liberals," and who think that capitalism is just fine and dandy but simply in need of some tweaks and regulations and reforms.

In fact, it's a strange day when I find myself more attuned to the mores of certain (fictitious) Christians, in this case those "new faith" folk in James Kunstler's A World Made by Hand:

"Do you know the lord, motherfucker?!" blam! blam! BLAM!

-- asked Brother Joseph of that lowly capitalistic vermin "Mr.Curry" character, just prior blowing his fucking head off.

I might even convert, were I to meet such sorts in real life--of course, this Michael Bunker fellow comes pretty close.

You make the claim, you provide the evidence of this unlimited power.

I really don't think Exxon rules the world, but maybe I'm mistaken
