Don't ask me how it happened, but one of my short stories has been selling very well lately. Check out the company I'm keeping! (Mine is at #5): Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! To try and keep the momentum going, I'm offering a free copy of the e-book to members of sciforums. I've been around here a long time, and some of you gave input and advice years ago as I was publishing my first novel. I respect the opinions of the readers here, so all I ask is for feedback, and if you enjoy the story, to maybe write a review of it on Amazon. I think these reviews help others find the story. My hope is to get some more word of mouth going. If you're interested, PM me an email address and I'll send you the PDF of the book's interior. Cheers!
Bad Ass!! I'm very envious. I've always wanted to write a book, but I is not done too good with them words that go together.
I think you're doing great! But really, if you want to write a book, it's as simple as making writing a daily habit. You get better, you learn discipline, you learn the art of revision, and it finally happens. You should look into NaNoWriMo. It takes place every November. Write a novel in a single month, which is less words than most of us post in the forums in the same amount of time. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I've actually been working on an idea for a story for several years now..about a time traveler that can travel through time without changing history. Whenever he time jumps, it creates a "parallel" time line that only exists while he is in that time...so he can do whatever he wants, as the alternate timeline goes away when he returns to his own time. I love time travel stories, but in virtually all of the stories I've read, the time traveler has to be careful about what he does, so he doesn't change history (kill Hitler, and the USSR ends up taking over the world or something like that) I wanted him to have the freedom to do whatever he wanted without that worry. It's still in the concept phase...maybe someday I'll try to put pen to paper.
Wow . That is a great thing . I love S.F. People like you are why . Doers of life . Rock on . A red Rock
Congratulations, #5 on amazon and your first 13 reviews are all 5 out of 5. I've looked at your author's page. Obviously you have something new to contribute. Perhaps a style of storytelling or theme that is a breath of fresh air because all of your books have insane reviews. One of them has 24 reviews, 23 are 5 out of 5 and the last is 4 out of 5. That is amazing.
Congrats, Swivel. I can't imagine how to write a book (English isn't my first language, my vocab is boring, my grammar is crappy, etc.), let alone to have a book on a best seller list. Nice to know an SF member is doing great things. Congrats, again, man!! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Hi Hugh, I liked your Molly Fyde books, but for some reason I couldn't get through the third book. I think I lost the momentum, and forgot what was going on before, the plot was very complex. I bought "Wool" for kindle on Amazon, looks promising!
Thanks, everyone. It means a lot. In fact, it was reaction to a few boating adventures posted on SciForums that convinced me I should try this. Several members complimented my storytelling. Feedback like that is what motivated me to take this seriously. Spidergoat: I've heard that about the third book, that the plot became a little too complex. And then I've heard many who say it's the best of the bunch. I'm not sure what that disagreement is about. Perhaps it strays more into the "hard" sci-fi from what is more story-driven in the first two books? If you can give the fourth a try, it's worth it. The conclusion of the war with the Bern is intermingled with back stories for three of Molly's companions. It was a lot of fun putting the series together and having it work out as it did at the end. And thanks for the support!
That's probably LAND OF LIGHT. People are bonkers over that book (the second in the Molly Fyde series). There are a few scenes and adventures in there that come up more often than anything else at book signings.
Just finished it - you kept me up late. It was definitely hard to put down. A very good short story, that ends just the way all good short stories seem to: with the reader wanting to know more about the world you've created.
Awesome! And I apologize for tampering with your beauty sleep! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
An update: Wool has moved up to #4 in Anthologies and has cracked the top 100 in general science fiction! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I'm still emailing free copies of the book to SciForums members interested in reading and reviewing the book. Thanks for all the support, guys and gals!
When college isn't taking up so much of my time I may order a paperback (paperback since I dislike reading on computers, I prefer being able to feel the book in my hands) from amazon.
