It is also a cultural/social matter. If you have ever been part of a group, especially a clique or an elite group, there tebd to be clear guidelines on "Whom we love and whom we hate."
When we are in a bad place in life, expressing hatred towards an inferior/hostile group comes naturally, at least from my experience. Whenever I catch myself blasting someone or something I try to trace back my train of thought, and almost always it is because I am in a bad mood, tired, angry at something I have to do, confused about something I have done, etc. Its rarely a rational process. For this reason its hard to say who we should hate, because it so often happens spontaneously, at least in my case.
I don't quite understand hate as much as anger is a manifestation of dissatisfaction .. Anger can be a persuasive tool as you navigate the wilds . All animals do it when there confrontation with no escape. Hate is whole different thing to Me . What is it ? I don't know ? Is it anger you can't let go ? What is it ? I don't know ? The closes I got to hate was Nevill Log Homes and there inability to deliver logs that had been paid for in advance . Oh fuck what a stressful experience that was . All dressed and no place to go and the recession was on full force . Well they did deliver in the end and all was completed way over any realistic time constraints . It is a fucking miracle that we could complete the job with the estimated price as in build time is money . So I was Mad at Mark for a while ( He was the owner ) They got stimulus money and I was a little disturbed about that , but you know I had already been given the red stone by the black foot man and I was finding it very difficult to be mad about any thing . Well about 2 weeks ago Jim Boss Called Me ( Old time Log House Builder to old to get in there as much as he use to , but still can ) Mark Nevill is dead . He dropped Dead . Nevill went bankrupt with out paying back any stimulus and the doors closed then he dropped dead . Fuck ! I am not ready to drop dead like today or anything . I might look forward to the day , yet I am very glad to wake up in the morning no matter how bad I feel . Did I even have a right to hate Mark , He had faults a plenty in my judgment cause he promise the moon and delivered 20% of his word . I can't hate him for that . Sorry I can't . If you think big you will only deliver a portion in reality . The builder who goes over time constraints usually does for valid reasons . We are not as a nation sympathetic to that . Well i thought this thread was about the need for a rival (real or imagined) that seems to be present in individuals at certain points of their lives. Like the Jefferson Airplan song asks "do you need someone to love?"
