    It's an often repeated quote, that Fredrick the Great "first used" (he might have ripped it off as well military people often do).

    He said it ("Dogs, would you live forever?" Kerls, wollt ihr ewig leben?) to his retreating Prussians at the Battle of Kolin while he charged the enemy. His men turned around and followed him back to battle.
