Gateway was once famous for its notebook and desktop, but now it seems to be a dead company in IT market.

On a similar note, apparently HP computers are also likely to go away. I've seen two different news articles that say the same thing: At the very least, HP is planning to sell off or spin off it's entire computer division.

Both companies were awful. But at least HP made some decent business-class products.

Gateway's company policy was a 3 frame cartoon.

    Frame 1:
    Gateway employee kissing your ass

    Frame 2:
    You buy a gateway computer.

    Frame 3:
Gateway employee rapes you as other employees stand around laughing.

It really sums up their customer service policies. I wonder if Gateway corporate even used Gateway computers. It's like they don't even care that what they're selling doesn't work. Some manager somewhere just says "Yeah, I don't care perpetually struggles to just run the prompt screen, sell it! ...some jackass will buy it."

I've owned several Gateways. My first two were amazing. My last one was pretty good (I still own it, it's pretty, it's rugged, and it's been in my possession for three years), and is now a Linux Box. They made top-notch machines and I'm sorry that they'll be going the way of the dodo. Such is life in a capitalist nation.
