I say time is an illusion. Everything is part of one collective imagination of the infinite mind, and we are all seperate incarnations of it, and yet we are all one, us and the universe, which is why there seems to be no contradictions. Life, the universe and individual consciousness is a dream. You walk out the door and watch someone get mashed under a bus, and his consciousness will become reborn through a newborn child on the other side of the planet in six minutes time.

Anarch, I just might be stupid, but i don't see the logic. How can you claim that time is an illusion, but your data is a mystical/religous view point. I would think that time is a very real element in the universe. However, i don't think that there was always time, but now there is. I don''t understand what you mean when you say that there are no conrtidictions. You have a nice topic going, but i need some clarity.
I need a fuckload of clarity. Prove it? Prove it? Prove it? Prove it? I see four MASSIVE assertions and no shred of proof. Call me skeptical.
Well, the human population has been rising for a while. So, I dont see how this works. I do see what you mean. I really don't think that this universe is real. I just think that I am the only thing that is real, and everything else is just here for my conciousness to hold onto. Time is not an illusion. The increments that we place on time are not necessarily true, but time itself is true. You cannot go back to when you were three because we live in one dimension of time. We have a set path to travel: forward. Whether you believe in fate or freewill is your choice. I like freewill, but time does exist, sorry. I think you are trying to say that time is circular. That may be true, but scientists just discovered that the universe is going to expand forever. It is infinite. Meaning that time will move in one dimension. Check the Astronomy Forum. You don't have to believe science, but science is based on fact, and I am guessing that your beliefs are based through introspection and spirituality. Much respect to you my friend because most people cannot grasp the concept of circular time.
Jeeezus fuck, that is a shitload of assertions. Any evidence? Didn't think so. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
his consciousness will become reborn through a newborn child on the other side of the planet in six minutes time. So, what happens during that six minutes? Another illusion?
The bible also says that Jesus died for three days then came back to life. Who are you going to believe, some sick, twisted book or a sick, twisted woman?
Huh? What universe are you living in? I'd say there are a great number of contradictions. I encounter them a lot. You don't eh? Should I contradict you? How poetic. What does that mean? Then when you dream in the dream you're just dreaming that you're dreaming? Okay, it's somewhat poetic but do you think you've provided any real insight there? No shit? Wow, dude I am SO fucking glad somebody finally figured it all out cuz for a minute there I was all "DUDE, I can only theorize what happens to consciousness after death, not being dead and all. It seems though that the answer in terms of the current understanding of physics (though that doesn't carry a lot of weight in the spirituality arena). is: Nothing. You cease to exist, end of story. Soooooooooo, you know... thanks for straightening me out about all that six minutes and other side of the planet stuff, great work. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Well 1) Poetry is a kind of knowledge but not a objective one. 2) Science and philosophy (thank to The Lord!) are not the same but both emplys rational and logical methodes... so of course we're a bunch of a strange kind of scientist. 3) Any argument needs to be reasoned if its autor wants to convince anyone. Religion reasons are only valid for people who eants to believe wich means that they are not objective reasons. 4) Turning to our question, there is no possible observation of time or space but these are transcendental ideas (in the kantian meaning) to explain our universe. Both are concepts wich measures all the changes in the cosmos (Aristotle) and the form that we can observe and order fenomena (Kant).
This is what Vedanta teach, no? I like it because it reduces the feeling of alienation quite effectively. Philosophically, however, it is not respected very much in Western societies at present. Not that materialism is much more coherent...
Me personally, I'd trust the book rather than the person. I'm going to interject when people start insulting figures like Mary and Jesus by calling them sluts and frauds. Really, please show some respect Xev. EDIT: And welcome to sciforums proteus!
