Diane, I don't know that you are aware that there's only an estimated 2 million Muslims out of 300 million American citizens: http://www.adherents.com/largecom/com_islam_usa.html So, even though the Muslim community's really active at the ballot box, they are still a very insignificant part of any national election. Apparently, they freak you out though...
Soon this won't be a parody. Illegal Immigrants Returning To Mexico For American Jobs http://www.theonion.com/articles/illegal-immigrants-returning-to-mexico-for-america,1951/
Well I took your advice and searched her economic posts and a few others and I think we are in good shape if she is forecasting gloom and doom for the economy! As far as her hatred of Latinos her loss! What a wonderful culture she is missing out on, but that is what hatred and ignorance does. Eventually she will need pills to live w/ herself and others!
even if the second article wasn't from a dubious 'news' source, and didn't feature someone who appears to have a political axe to grind, those are two completely different issues surely? one describes the deportation of illegal immigrants who are already in the US and the other describes the policy towards individuals who are attempting to gain entry. if people are just being turned back rather than being arrested and deported (and therefore showing up in the deportation statistics), it demonstrates that the current administration is even more effective than the figures from the first article suggest. a child could work that one out so what's your beef?
It seems pretty obvious what my "beef" is. One one hand, we have a president who's saying, "We've made the border much more secure, so let's talk about immigration reform (which is Newspeak for "amnesty"). On the other hand, we have a sheriff in a border state who claims to have been ordered to ease up on enforcement in order to rig the numbers when it comes to illegals. Personally, though, I don't support amnesty no matter how secure our border is or how long the respective illegals have been here.
They played a central and key role in at least one national US election - they threw in behind W in 2000, in Florida. Had they thrown in behind Gore, that would have covered the targeted ballot "misprint" and the weird voting machine irregularities both (the voter list rigging was not enough, on its own), and the Court would not have been able to give the election to W by simply stopping a recount. http://dir.salon.com/story/books/feature/2004/03/15/unger_3/index.html
Your giving the article an implication that just doesn't exist. I don't know if you suffer from english comprehension of you are deliberately trying to misrepresent it - but I'll be nice and assume that its the former and explain what it actually means in way you might understand. What your article is claiming is not that the border is less secure, but that the practices used to deal with people attempting to illegally gain entry to the US have changed - that instead of being detained and then deported they are merely being turned away. So in respect of the point you are desperately trying but failing to hammer home it's a non-story - it's just not relevant. Not to mention that the policy makes sense for a whole raft of reasons - not least financial ones, but more tellingly the accusations of the officer in question don't make any sense. Ask anyone who has had any dealings with law enforcement, and they will tell you that if you are trying to cook the figures to make you look more effective you deliberately make MORE arrests not less.
I think it's you who is misunderstanding. Showing a big decrease in the number of illegals who are detained or arrested will give the impression that the border is more secure. The border being more secure is one of the requirements that some Republicans gave before considering the amnesty that some Democrats wanted. It's easier to keep track of people who you detain that it is to count heads when people scurry back where they belong because they see the flashing lights of a police vehicle.
clearly this is a case of you thinking what you have been told to think. if you want to cook the figures to make border enforcement look more effective you make more arrests - not less. what is more likely - and is hinted at in the article - is that enforcement officers are putting a greater emphasis on genuinely illegal activities like the control of drug traffic instead of wasting a great deal of time and resources detaining and processing people who are attempting to enter the US to steal fruit picking jobs
What are you talking about here? You are such a hypocrite that I really can't understand how anyone can take you seriously when you make these types of comments. When the jobs are being produced there are more of them for those unemployed to have. Therefore it then makes sense that the unemployment rate will go down, not up as you say to show that jobs are being created to help those who are unemployed.
Actually unemployment can go down as the bad job market drags on, since it's more a measure of people actively looking for jobs, not a total number of unemployed. So to have a spike of unemployment can simply mean that people are becoming more encouraged that there's something worth looking for again.
Obama said the border is secure. Most Americans--especially Texans think he is full of it. http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/po...-Obama-s-claim-of-border-security-1376192.php "The border is not secure and it has never been more violent or dangerous. Anyone who lives down there will tell you that,” said TX State Rep. Mike McCaul.
I want illegal aliens out--deported. I want the jobs they stole from American citizens given (back) to Americans. I want the borders secured--especially now that binLaden's men have vowed to "get us". I want our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and placed on the border. We have real enemies who want us dead. We should NOT be making it easy for them.
Not sure how many Americans will want straight labor jobs at below minimum wage with no benefits and no overtime. Not all jobs are equal. Of course, with no migrant workers, those companies will have to either pay a lot more to their American workers, all reported to the IRS, and companies tend to pass costs on to....the consumer.
Many Americans who have been out of work for 2+ years and have no more government benefits would be happy to have anything. My neighbor needed a painter and had guys offering to do it for $8/hr instead of the $30 they used to charge. Many Americans are desperate.
