They were idiots for doing that.

I have proved my points. My friends in banking TOLD me first hand no banks loaned money like they promised to. They bought other banks and things:

The stimulus did not work--not in any aspect.

Yes. Not for Bush or Obama.

And just what is the economic foundation for this position?

No you have not. You have misrepresented the meanings of words in order to support your belief or claims. But you have not proven your claims.
Banks did not promise to use the bailout money to make loans as you claim. What you want the government to take over banks and make their loan decisions?

Banks did not use the bailout money to make loans - no one is saying otherwise. That was not the purpose of the bailout money. The purpose of the bailout money was to keep the banks from going under and taking the economy under with them. And you have not proven that banks used the bailout money to purchase others banks.

Where is your evidence? Where is the evidence that leads you to this conclusion?

So, who did you vote for in the last 3 elections? Did you vote in any of the associated primaries? If so, for whom?

"in January 2009, his last month in office, the nation lost 655,000 jobs, raising the unemployment rate to 7.6 percent, the highest level in more than 15 years.[57]"

So George W was crashing the economy, and now you're criticising Obama for not being able to pull it up out of the steep dive? Of course you are, because we know you and your prejudices. Oh, and you aren't funny, that sock is worn out.

Yes, unemployment was rising. The liberals took over Congress in 07. By 08 the country was in BIG trouble. Obama has had almost 2 and 1/2 YEARS to fix the problem and he has failed miserably. He has made it worse.

yes and that would be indicadive of BUSH damaging the economy.
wrong he has made things better. the problems bush caused are not easy to fix. it normallt take at least as long to fix and cause and cost more than the actions that caused it.
no he has made it better. not by as much as we would all like but things have gotten better.

Remember, anything bad that happened in the 8 years of Bush was Clinton's fault. Anything bad that happened afterwards was Obama's fault. Or Clinton's, sometimes.

And what specifically did a Democrat Congress do with the signoff of a Republican president that caused the loss of jobs?

You would think people around here would be smart enough to know these things, right? Right? I mean, c'mon. But they watch too much T.V., and buy what they read in the papers. If the big man did try to do anything contrary to his marching orders they'd do to him what they did to Kennedy or what they tried to do to Reagan.

People in these parts never even think to question who owns the papers and who owns the network and cable companies, nor do they question how the information is produced. If it's fed to them, they believe it.

Have they ever, after they got done with their education, questioned how their education was constructed, and the purposes of compulsory state education?

Why doesn't anyone think for themselves. The same old arguments, back and forth, and back again. Soon, the rest of the globe is going to get sick of the US making economic war on them and take away our free lunch. When you can't pay for the free food stamps, unemployment, and social security with the world's reserve currency anymore, will this smokescreen debate you noobs are buying into matter?

It's time to educate yourself, and soon. If we all keep letting the media and the guberment do it, the real criminals that are robbing all the wealth, sticking it into off shore bank accounts will eventually have us scrabbling around like North Koreans when the shit hits the fan. You're going to realize the press they own was feeding you all a bunch of fairy tales. When are you going to learn to think for yourselves?

You're right Me-Ki-Gal, Obama is inexperienced. But thankfully, TPTB have called in the big guns to help him out.

". . . . I don't know guys, it sounds dicey. You want me to what? Tell Americans that we've found Osama Bin Laden and shot him dead to distract them from unemployment figures? Do you really think they're that dumb?"

~"Let me see if I have got this straight, you want me to tell them that Osama has been viewing porn for the last decade so they don't pay attention to the fact that the dollar may lose it's reserve status? You actually think that might work? Intelligent people know he's been dead for a decade though, how is that possible?"

~"Yer overthinkin' it son. It's not whether it's possible. This is America, and yer the president. If you say it's true, than it's true. You'd shit your shorts if Dicky told you the stuff he got up to while we were here doin' what is best for the world."

Yes, the problem with that is, there isn't any growth. We are in a steady state. No need to add bodies. They have enough.

They are extracting more work from the existing workers. Productivity is increasing, people are working more hours.

And just what is your basis for this claim? The economy has been growing about around 2 percent or better since early 2010. And we have gone from loosing almost a million jobs a month when Obama took office to consistently adding jobs to the economy...over a million jobs have been added since Obama took office.

I think the problem is how much debt was created to create the growth. It's not healthy.

How many Bankers went to jail? Huh? You really think Obama is doing such a good job representing the will of the American public? Most Americans are disgusted with the state of the union.

I heard an argument (made BY a Banker to other Bankers) on MSNBC that the "problem" is we need to "realign" the American wage with the rest of the worlds'. IOWs America needs to become a 3rd world shit-hole and Americans should start getting used to living on the equivalent of $5000 a year. This is the way Bankers think Joe. They don't give two shits about you or I. That's fine by me. Just don't ask us to bail those douche bags out. For Christ's sake, that f*cking douche bag that runs GoldmanSux is a criminal and should be in jail. But, that's not going to happen is it? No, it's not, or at least not if Obama can help it. Hell, they can pull their Obama get out of jail for free card.

You think the trillions and trillions of debt isn't having an effect? That life for most Americans has gotten better? No, it's not. The entire system is crook. You yourself said we need more regulation. Well, Obama isn't doing that. What he is doing is paying for more TSA agents. He just signed on for MORE of the Patriot Act. He f*cking invaded Libya for Christ sake. Don't you get it? Obama doesn't give two shits about you or I. He is in no way different from Bush and Cheney.

Oh, and I'm not "blaming" Obama for the State of the Union. We're to blame. We are ignorant morons and seem to be getting more so by the day. What I blame Obama for is as I said: A failed economic policy, being a banker's whore, signing on to more warmongering, taking away MORE of our rights by renewing the Patriot Act and not having the BALLS or the BACKBONE to stand up for the American people and prosecute the criminals in WallStreet.

He will not be getting my vote.

Could you please provide a source that says over a million jobs have been added.

Peter Morici, a business professor at the University of Maryland in College Park, said Obama shouldn't boast about 600,000 jobs created in the past six months.

"We need to create 150,000 jobs a month just to stay even," Morici said in an interview. "To make a dent in the unemployment rate, you need to go over 150,000," in new jobs per month.

"We're not growing anywhere near the pace to do that," he said.

Obama is defending his economic stimulus program as polls show the U.S. public isn't convinced of its success and is wary of a growing deficit.

Michigan has lost about 94,000 jobs since Obama took office. The state unemployment rate climbed to 13.6 percent in May from 11.3 percent in January 2009, Labor Department figures show.
