i lay in the most restful position possible, almost like meditation. completely clear my head of everything. and count backwrds from twenty. not once do i remember hitting "1". if i am distrubed in anyway, i stop counting until ive retourned to my relaxed spot. if i really really cant sleep, i grap a tube of that heating stuff (like icy hot), take a motrin and a soma, and wrap myself in hot towels. damn it feels good after a shitty day. but then,... i usally cant sleep from body pains.... i don't think id recommend icy hot to the average insomniac. lol Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
All of the above (besides the CO thing Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!). I read in bed before going to sleep. This has adverse side effects though: now, whenever I read I get sleepy. That sucks. Then, I turn on some soft instrumental music (deep forest, enigma, etc) and lack on my back with my hands at my sides. Then I consciously relax myself, and let my mind wander. And soon enough I'm sleeping. Sometimes, if I really can't sleep I have a different procedure. I was hypnotizes a while ago, and at the end of the show the hypnotist was like "if you ever have trouble falling asleep, just lie in bed and count down from 10 and say ''sleep' instead of 'one'". I do, and scarily enough, it works Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
One method I employ is my "sleeping pill". In otherwords, read a book. I find that I nod, wake up, put the book up, turn off the lights, and it is morning next thing I know. The other is much the same as NightFall. Relaxation. Done it so long that it is very easy to fall asleep. It is a form of self-hyponosis and I have been doing it since I was a teen. I can achieve a state of feeling as if I am floating a few inches above the bed. Just total relaxation.
I use my imagination... The usual setting has me returning in the past, in the body I had at the time... but with the knowledge I have today. I imagine the different situations that can happen and usually fall asleep easily. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

Start writing something or reading, both are boring enough to knock you out in less than a half hour. Though, the sleeping pills would be the best.
