Gotta see the study because that seems like a simplistic assessment.

    What they also said was:

So quite possibly all you are seeing is that the worriers get things checked sooner at the doctor's office and thus find things while they are curable.

I doubt that. Can you provide some statistical data please.

Another longevity item I just discovered (in a newspaper column, so the reference may be less reliable).

It appears that city dwellers live, on average, 4 years longer than their rural cousins. The explanation is access to medical care. Today, a lot of the ultimate causes of death, such as strokes, heart attacks and so on, can be 'fixed' with rapid medical care - happening within the much quoted "golden hour".

City people get that attention rapidly. Country folk routinely fail to get fixed up within the requisite time frame. This means country folk die much more often of conditions that can be fixed with rapid attention. Thus, they live 4 years less on average.

Pessimists are what optimists call realists.

The pessimist tend to be more abusive than the optimist. The optimist tries induce a positive state of mind which is good for health. The pessimist is abusive, raining down negativity to spoil the parade. The victim of this abuse, which is often the optimist, ends up with reduced life expectancy due ot the abusive stress.

As an anology, the optimist massages the body with soothing ointment that smells nice. The pessimist hits the body with a thorny stick. The person getting abused by the thorny stick is more likely to suffer from some form of ailment. Nothing bothers a pessimist more than an optimists so he tendd to get the worse beatings. The pessimist needs the optimist, so he can practice his abusive art. Needing the optists to practive his abusive art allows the pessimists to be surround by the soothing massage. This helps with health so he can abuse longer.

Relative to motivation, the pessimist lives in fear. By discounting everything they can avoid all types of fearful situations, foods, ideas, etc.. The optimists see the silver lining, even if it is not there. He/she is more fearless, willing to go out on the line for the pot of gold even if it makes then a victim of pessimist abuse. The abuse by the pessimists is there to induce fear. If you don't fear the world, you will fear the abuse.

Does pessimism really make your life longer? Or does it just feel like it?

Pessimistic and Optimistic. That's quite a simple approach, those who are socialist and always want to live in peace, adding anything they like in there life(being a part of there life) and make the mind to accept every Odd is Optimistic approach. Those that are rigid to the pet rules designed by the Almighty ALLAH are pessimistic.

Um, there's no scientific data to support that...but that's really how you think of us?:bugeye: ABUSIVE?

I mean, basically I usually get the "You're bringing me down, man!" response from optimists...and my response is to distance myself from them, because...no, they just don't see the world through the same pair of lenses I do.
Almost all my friends are pessimists. The one optimist friend I have only got that way through antipsychotic medication. Damn he's happy.
A lot of times these days I just can't handle the happy coming down the phone connection at me, and reject his calls.

When major depression hits, I really do view the world through "feces-colored-glasses."
But mostly I just expect the worst. It can happen. And I'm pleasantly surprised when it does not happen.

I don't insist anyone stay around to listen to me or share that view, it's just my view. No more or less valid than yours.
