if i am understanding your topic, i think you mean humans as a whole are not valuing humanity or life enough but rather materialism or that at the expense of their humanity.
humanity is materialism maybe is a bit harsh but I think is clear to us that what differ us from animal is money, animal don't need money I think this is a bit hard to understand to me also, but west culture where materialism told to be very popular humanity spread good, hence in third world where materialism is not be so popular, humanity being crossed over, this is of what is hard to explain but it is.
It once didn't many years ago but the religious people made the government put that on the money only for their self interests.

God is an idea of perfect being. Money is "god", which means "almost can do anything." And we all love money, because we need money to survive.
One day I believe I will live in a world with no money. Without greed it will be worthless. No one will own, no one will fight, no reason to steal, and no one would desire to have more than their fellow human beings. Everyone will love, everyone will share, and finally, everyone will have what they need. I'm very much looking forward to it. Won't be long now!

God is not money, Love is God, my bothers where I come from there are people who really dont care about money, they care just about love, family.
If you believe in the concept of God as an omnipresent energy/entity that infests/inhabits all that is, then yes God is money, too...and look at those dollars, so pretty.
