    Hi Peeps!

I'm hoping that someone here can recommend a basic website design package.
    Free to download if possible.
I don't need anything fancy. Site is just text and images. I was fairly tech savvy and wrote my last site using notepad and raw HTML.
But that was over 10 years back.
Tried google and found a confusion of choices.
    All personal recommendations gladly recieved.

    Over to you all...

You can still write a website in RAW HTML, however most of the main work is actually done in CSS nowadays. Even the tutorials online tell you to no longer use the old HTML methods.

    As for packages:
You can get hold of design software to run on your computer (like Coffeecup, Dreamweaver etc) Some will cost, some wont. They can allow you to make a website from scratch easily but to be honest half the things they likely can do you might well not use.

Failing that you could install something like Wordpress to a domain or use a preinstalled wordpress on a hosting site, it seems to be a main one that people use (Which you'll likely recognise as being associated with Blog's), You could generate a simple straight forward site using that and there is plenty of documentation should you get stuck.

If you just want text and images, nothing fancy as you say, you should try raw HTML. Quick and easy.

    Thanks for that.

Might stick with notepad. Was just feeling lazy and out of practice.

You could always try using notepad++, it does a lot of things the standard notepad or wordpad doesn't do. For instance if you write HTML (or other forms of code) it parses what you type into a visible colour difference, the lines are also numbered etc. I class it as a power-tool.

Adobe DreamWeaver CS5 or CS4. They are the best in web world.
