He then asked, "Is it ready?" "Yeah, its set, our intel is pretty reliable, I confirmed it myself, from both biological and mechanical sources," He knew that if it satisfied Cera, it is reliable, plus he affirmed it personally. When he first promoted Cera to CO of CovertOps and Phantoms, there was rumors and gossip that the only reason she was promoted is because she is his lover and slept with him for the position. He heard whispers and murmurs in the mess and the corridors that stopped as soon as he came into view. It didn't take much with his Geass and information from friends like Minamoto to confirm his suspicions. It cost him his pride and dignity, and he became a laughing stock amongst the enlisted and officers alike. He didn't give a damn about morals, but it was his dignity that was harmed as well. He lost a fair share of respect. Over time as Cera proved her usefulness and abilities did they realize their folly, but it still the gossip is still circulating as a friendly joke. She exceeded even his expectations in battle, almost his equal in combat and command, he is careful to always include almost as the most important part of the phrase. Phantom Squadron is the best of the best of the Shadows who are in turn the elite of the CovertOps. Úlfhéðnar (usually referred to as Beserkers for simplicity's sake ) of the Legion of Wolves, the SRT's counterpart of the Phantoms is under the direct command of Shogun himself. Phantoms and Úlfhéðnar are regarded as the best of ESSCPA Special Operations, they are also in constant rivalry, although Shogun insists that his Berserkers are the best. "Are you sure there are no leaks, no witnesses allowed to escape?" "We traced every possible option, its secure, they don't know what happened, we wiped every single piece of evidence unique to their nature and characteristics, its solid, they will fall right into our trap," If this trap works, then their job just been made a lot easier and a lot more lethal. During the times of exile Shogun left Cera in charge of the Geass investigation, to find who gave him his Geass. It was fruitless, there are clues and theories but they can't find anything solid. "Same as always, no solid leads, I pulled some strings and got the Glaston Knights involved during their patrol to Odysseus 1, nothing on their end," The Glaston Knights are some of the best knights in the Empire, he would have to ask how much influence she has some other time. There are two reasons, well two that he is consciously aware of, that he trusted Cera. One is that he can't analyze her with his Geass. She was the only one. As far as his Geass is concerned, she doesn't exist at all. That made her connected to Geass is some way, shape or form. Another is that she is very close to the family, and she was his mother's friend and mentor before she was married. He wondered how old Cera really is, she appears his age, it is odd. He heard about a extremely rare genetic mutation that cause aging to slow to a crawl, that might be it, but he can't tell. The odd thing is she has no surname, she was just plain Cera, and that was it. No title, nothing at all. It is a mystery he intends to solve on his own. One of the main reasons he gave her her position is for his little investigations. Things get done with no awkward questions.

Shogun inquired, he has to make sure nobody finds out where he got his Geass and how, his Geass is common knowledge by now, at least with those that served alongside him. "Testing a new prototype MS model, the IVMS Excoriate, the first third-generation Stallion," Stallions are what the Empire insisted on calling Mobile Suits. Theoretically all Stallion pilots are knights, but in practice only imperial aces are knighted. The criteria for an imperial ace is at least 12 kills and received the Imperial Cross at least once. However members of the Royal Family may knight whoever he/she wishes. Usually there is careful consideration involved, and it is a complicated business. "I see, they got a new toy to play with," Shogun said thoughtfully, "Of course I don't have to remind you of your security clearance in the Empire, in fact we really don't need to do any intel work," Cera said smiling, "Yes I know, but we do it because-" "we have to defend the Empire against domestic threats as our ally, I know, but we really shouldn't gather intel on the empire, but within the empire, we are wasting a lot of of time, manpower and resources gathering intel that you have clearance to, hell I have the same clearance as you, if you don't want to, I can," Shogun considered it for a while, she did have a point, but it will be pretty suspicious, she seemed to know what he was thinking and said, "I got the influence and contacts to get us information without any awkward questions asked," "Okay, do as you wish, it is your command after all," he said giving in Shogun then said, "Come to think of it, you are not commissioned, nor do you have a rank," "Just noticed?" she said teasingly, "Not really, anyways we need to get that fixed," "Well, none of your people have a commission, so that doesn't matter, none of you aren't real officers anyways, as for rank, I don't really give a damn, I don't care about my position either, I just don't want to be bored out of my skull," "Wait, that is why you have been delegating all the pencil pushing to your staff huh?" I stood up over the barricade and aimed the rail rifle and nailed an enemy soldier, then I got nailed with another bullet to the armor and fell on my ass. "Ow." I said Adder pulled me up and I picked what was left of the bullet from he armor "something to take home to mom" I said holding it up. "Fucking genius isn't this?" Adder yelled An explosion rocked the adjacent building. We were fighting in one of the caverns for the village. We had gotten them to denounce their relationship with the holians whom quickly responded. Fortunately, in these caverns infantry had a monopoly, and with diamond studded armor and railguns using solid diamond spears for projectiles we had the advantage. I grabbed Adder by the cuff of his armor and dragged him on his feet over to another barricade. The one we were just at blew up under mortar fire. "Why don't they just bombard us from orbit!" Adder yelled under the roar of a friendly flamethrower clearing out the holian police station. "Were four hundred feet under ground under some of the hardest diamonds and other rocks possible, it would just be pissing in the wind." Cade said, he was at the adjacent barricade. I saw puffs of smoke behind their lines, "artillery!" I yelled I tackled a clueless Adder to the ground. The ground shook like thunder. ______________________________________ "Shit it hurts!" You know shogun, we could turn this into a sort of gundam feel. A third party force that are the good guys trying to stop mutually assured destruction. Think about it, you guys have the planet that you can operate off of. My guy has good enough strings to get the entirety of "I" corps, think tens of thousands of troops, hundreds of top of the line ships, and the "legacy" battleship. Plus, the holians I am with already still have some pretty mean technology, including things like ionic weaponry and nervous system based interfaces that could refine your current ones. I just thought of it, but between all of us, we have the individual pieces to build something a lot cooler.

I woke up coughing and wretching, I shot straight up, several hands forced me back down. "Relax sutori!" one of them said trying to force me down. I felt like I was being gagged and was trying to fight out of it. "You've got an oxygen tube down your throat, try to relax. Your spine is really delicate right now, stay still damnit!!" Something was beeping insanely loud, must've been some sort of monitor. I managed to stop coughing and suppress the urge to puke. I openned my eyes, I wanted to rub them because it was all foggy but I couldn't move my arm at all. "We should put him back under." one of them said "Its too dangerous, not for a while." "Look at him, can't you do something? He's practically puking up the tube." "Relax." "How the fuck can I relax? He took a damn mortar for me." "Shut up, we cannot risk for his heart to blow with all the strain and pressure, its already dangerously high as it is, now calm down!" After a minute or so some of the fog finally cleared up. It must've been a hospital or something, and Adder, a surgeon, Kim (what the hell was she doing here?), and some other people that vaguely looked like the people from the solitude. I groaned a bit and that got their attention. "He must be mostly consciouss now." someone said while I felt my eyelids being pulled upwards and a light being flashed into and out of them. "Nothing wrong here." I felt someones hand on my head, "hey tori, how's it going?" in a feminine voice, it must've been Kim. I tried to speak, but what escaped was more of a groan on account of the tube in my throat. "Don't talk", it must've been Adder, I'd recognize that voice anywhere. I tried to say something again, Adder guessed what it was. "You got nailed by a massive piece of shrapnel from that mortar, it was at least this big." Adder said, I saw his hands waving in the air but couldn't really see what he meant. "You saved my ass, it tore through your back when you covered me and ripped out half of your spinal column." he said I won't lie, I started to panic, I couldn't even pay attention to what he was saying anymore. Thousands of thoughts went through my head, my chest tightened and I felt like I was going to puke. I then saw the screen with my heart rate and blood pressure. It was spiking and that only made me freak out more and that only made it spike again. It looked like a fucking telephone book. I saw someone look at me and follow what I was looking at and then was surprised to see what was happening on the screen. Adder was still babbling away. "Shut up Adder!", I think it was cade who yelled. "He's hyperventilating!" someone yelled "Grab the tranquilizer!" I kept freaking out Then I heard Kim "Calm down tori, it'll be alright, calm down." she said running her hand through my hair. And gradually it worked. They covered the screen now so I couldn't see. But my heart which had been banging away like a bongo drum was quieter now. "Shit, sorry bout that" Adder said "So anyways, we've got it fixed, these doctors did this like, weeklong surgery..." thats when I tuned him out. The thoughts pounding around like bullets in my head Kim saw the look on my face, "Adder, shut up!" "Sutori, it'll be alright, were gonna get you fixed up good as new." Cade said That was probably the friendliest he's ever been to me. Then the tranquilizer kicked in and I fell back asleep.

Shogun stood behind her and put his arm around her waist, and put his chin on the top of her head. She relaxed into his strong firm body and said, "I thought officers are not supposed to fraternize," Shogun smiled slyly and then said, "You aren't an officer," Cera then looked back at Shogun smiled and then said, she really need to look up to him, physically that is. "I am a civilian then, it still applies," Shogun kissed the top of her head and said, "I don't find it in my regs books," Shogun then put both hands around her model-thin waist and then she said, "You deleted it didn't you, from your own copy," "How did you guess," Shogun said teasingly, "Because you are Shogun, thats why," He then said, "The ESSCPA War Cabinet won't allow the removal of such a regulation, only me and two others voted in favor, so I have taken the liberty with my own copy," She chuckled and then said, "Who are the two others?" They laughed, Cera then said teasingly smiling with the sweet smiled reserved for those closest to her, "Who am I to argue with the great Prince General Shogun vi Yamato," Shogun then returned, in the same manner, "Your wish is my command, my lady," Shogun then played with her hair while reading the biography, it was interesting, her family wasn't old nobility, inherited from long dead ancestors. They were a family of successful and contributing citizens, most of the notable members being scientists. Her father joined the navy at age 18, studied at Nelson Naval Academy, a premier naval academy named after the great admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson, her father was a true naval man and earned his rank of Baron. He served under Shogun's father in the Xenturian War and the Second Vraja War. He rested his chin on top of her head, twirling her beautiful, long, soft green locks in his hands.

I asked nervously "Yah, we think so, they basically cut out your spine and implanted an experimental one." he said "Can I see it?" I asked "Wait till we get the doctor, your probably gonna need to stay in bed for a while, Adder will keep you company." Kim said "Oh great, last time he did that he gave me a heart attack." I laughed "And its all because a forgot to duck." Adder chuckled "So what does it look like?" I asked "It looks sick, part of it sticks out of your back, not protruding, but more like interlocking pieces that lay flat against your back, maybe around 2 inches wide." Adder said while making an approximation with his fingers to emphasize the point. "So what's happened since... the accident?" I asked "Loads of stuff" he replied
