keep the cap from getting overly moist?

Yeah they are pretty chewy, I like wax lips myself though.

Would you believe it's a seal to prevent your soda from going flat?

    Welcome to sciforums.

Ever looked under a soda cap to see what you had won?

I think everyone one else I have already welcomed.

It is as Wet1 suggested (I couldn't make head no tail of what was being discussed for some reason at this end)

It stops the drink going flat, as the plastic is through presure forced onto the top of the bottle, to create a seal.
Of course there is also the fact that it's screwed down.

You might even like to know why the plastic screw caps have the perferated piece that you have to break to open. It's not a seal to stop people tampering, but it's a seal to stop any shaking from blowing the top off with pressure.

In fact it was known that a man on holiday where I use to live, was on a beach with a 2 litre bottle of lemonade. He thought he would keep it cool by burying it in the sand. But the sand heats up due to the sun and cause the bottle to be pressurised.

As he was opening it to get a drink, the cap flew off with such force that it killed him like a gunshot to the head.
Thats why such safety cautions are taken now.

    Blue soda cap thing

Hi.. uh ya, those blue things on the lid of soda caps, well if u take it out and cut out the inside it turns into a ring. Then you can stretch it out to fit it on your wrist and wear it as a bracelet. Its called the kiss bracelet. And once someone tears it off you gotta kiss them! its fun to wear, but it might cut off your circulation unless u stretch it right. well ya there ya go. I hope that gives u something to do with them.
