I'm not a fan of the "narrator," or how he presents his material (as in, "This is 1928, so obviously it's not a radio," then implying it's a phone), but still...something about this video is quite strange. I'd like to know your thoughts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6a4T2tJaSU
A cell phone wouldn't work in the past, there were no cell towers. And if it were some futuristic technology, the person would not use it openly on the streets.
` Looks like somebody might already have identified the "phone" in one of the comments on the video... Western Electric Model 34A "Audiphone" Carbon Hearing Aid. Photo of device here.
^ Yeah, I've seen that Killjoy. Could be a type of "ear trumpet" too, I've seen some that are relatively flat. The oddest thing, to me, is simply her mannerisms. I know I'm programmed to see someone talking on a cell phone, but...that is what it looks like. She is walking/talking, stops as something interesting is said, turns her head, smiles, and comments back. It's a ridiculously familiar motion. I think it could be a phone, although probably not, and lesser so a "time traveler."
I see what you mean, but I also see a lady over-dressed for a cold day, perhaps holding a scarf or hand gloves, attempting to hide her face from the obvious camera next to the sidewalk, in a shy or embarrassed manner. Saying to the camera operator, "Oh please don't, I'm such a mess...hee hee...All right, Mr. De Mille, I'm not ready for my closeup" I suppose we'll never know...
It makes for the basis of a great time traveler film. There isn't enough time traveler films. Maybe an updated remake of Time Tunnel is in order (better done than the original).
But why would she be talking into an hearingaid? Very large feet! Well, either it's added later, as a mystic feature for the release of the dvd-box, to create excitement and sell more, or it's a real live alien (doesn't even have to be from the future) , or an actual time traveller.
