What country has the most advanced civilization?

Look at that...again Northern countries rock. I swear to god I need to get organized and write a book on why (I believe it has to do with harsh weather). Ok Australia made the Top 7, but hey Australia is cool.

Up until about 1900 Islamic societies were more a little tolerant than the West and the rest of the world. The West and much of the world increased it's tolerance dramatically since 1900 while much of the Islamic world may be less tolerant than it was in 1900. The Islamic world seems to have reacted to the rise of Western dominance by becoming less tolerant.

Nonsense. The Quran teaches Muslims to be intolerant.

The Christian Bible also teaches both to be tolerant and to be intolerant. Back when Christians were being intolerant they used the Bible to justify intolerance. Later the bible was used to promote tolerance.

The way advocates for tolerance and advocates for intolerance selectively use their holy books for support for tolerance or support for intolerance is parallel to the way you selectively choose information for support of intolerance and I selectively choose information for support of tolerance.

 

If we talk about weather, it is true that most Northern countries experience regular (!) harsh weather conditions, but since they are regular, they are rather predictable.

Most tropical and subtropical countries, on the other hand, are more likely to experience unpredictable extreme natural disasters, such as earthquake, tsunami, flooding, volcano eruption, tropical storm, landslide, etc. Added to that, most tropical and subtropical countries are also tend to have denser population. The combination of both makes such countries more vulnerable.

So, it's probably not necessarily because of the harsh weather (because otherwise Rusia and Eastern Europe will come on top).

 

umm we do eat cheeseburgers and uh we dont all eat sushi... its healthier than oily mcDonalds cheeseburger... but McDonalds in Japan is more healthier and we have more varieties than in USA. Japan makes more improvements and varieties than in USA so thats why.. like pcky and video games XD

 

europe is advanced but Japan is the top organized, with LESS crime well murders idk know about the whole bunch of suicides, and people are kind and not racist like in USA..... I went there and landed at LAX and the first thing this guy said is.... Japan plus all other countries suck...... that includes mexico,brazil, eurpoe area etc.. i got pissed lol because I am part german... I think people need better education... anyway we dont really know who is the best or top country because Japan isnt the best nor is USA or Europe... right? because every country has their best skills or whatever you call them.

Thread asks about civilization not level of advancement in technology or material wealth. I will nominate China as having the most advanced civilization, but first make an analogy to help explain why: If question were: Which competitor has the most advanced race vehicle?

And one competitor had a bicycle, but was miles ahead in the race when the other competitor just started his motorcycle at the starting line; one would not say the bicycle was the most advanced racing vehicles just because the motorcycle was far behind.

In WWII China was brutally occupied by the Japanese and destroyed, physically worse than Europe, but also psychologically with thousands of women raped almost daily. China also suffered decades of stupid ideological mismanagement when the Japanese left. For example, Mau’s “great leap forward” urged individual Chinese peasants to smelt iron ore in their back yards and sent China’s best educated to re-education camps or brigades of street sweepers, etc.

In contrast, the US prospered during WWII as “Rosie the Riveter” nearly doubled the labor force and thousands of new factories were built with great expansion of productive capacity. (New production machines and expanded labor were turning out several landing craft per day and B-52s at about one per day near war’s end!) Great social advances were also made, especially by women and blacks. The US was transformed from a nation where a few “robber barons” could starve workers in to working for very low wages or lock women and children in factories for 10 hours. (I forget number but at least 100 died in a famous garment factory fire in NYC as the doors were locked.)

WWII was great for the US as not only did its productive capacity grow, social condition improve, etc. but its competitors were physically and psychologically destroyed. US was like the bicycle, far ahead of all competitors, but finally, after decades, these competitors have overcome the destruction of WWII.

Like the motorcycle, China is advancing at least 5 times faster than the US (average GDPs compared for last two decades) Furthermore, what is counted in China’s GDP is much more real advances of wealth instead of items like NFL football game sales or visits to Disneyland tickets. – I.e. 2/3 of the US’s GDP is services that produce nothing of lasting value. Can you even remember who played in the Rose Bowl of five years ago or what was the top Broadway show?

China’s has a new hybrid economic system which is making this fantastic advance for its people. China learned from the USSR’s failure that the consumer economy should be guided by the invisible hand of Adam Smith, not distant bureaucrat in some central planning office. China learned from the US’s failure that infrastructure planning must be long term by engineers not short term by lawyer politicians concerned with their re-election. To make this point clear, consider High Speed Rail, HSR, infrastructure:

China's political system and control is already evolving. Filling bellies came first, but when average Chinese has even half the material wealth as the average American, there will be much greater freedoms that Americans value and enjoy too. - The young in China are demanding some of this already - no longer willing to work long hours at low wages so Americans can buy cheap goods at Wal Mart etc. They want their share of the pie, and that soon includes freedoms of speech etc.

 

Tolerant to what or to whom? Certainly, not non-believers or freedom of choice.

Please give some examples of the tolerance you refer?

Nonsense, religions do not teach tolerance any more than they teach morals.
