Maybe. Or maybe they'll just eat everyone else and poop oil. Always look on the bright side, that's what I say.

if you would make oil out of mammals (like we humans are) I would suspect you would end up with something that resembles liquid butter.

Can't we burn that in our new fuel-efficient hybrid Hummers?

Based on our current sample size of 1, 100% of intelligent lifeforms are dangerous killers. Is there any particular reason why we would expect aliens to be peaceful and friendly? It seems to me that we don't really have enough information one way or the other. Given that, is trying to contact aliens worth the risk?

Although people have mentioned invasions etc, a much more likely negative scenario would seem to be the aliens deciding to preemptively exterminate us because we are potentially threatening. From an alien's perspective, it might be much better to slam a few quartz soccer balls into Earth at near the speed of light now, rather than wait until we decide to do it to their planet.

What would aliens need from our planet? Probably resources.

So that would be certain elements/molecules or food. Or both.

Elements or molecules probably. Could aliens eat our food, or us? How different would their physiology be? Could they even digest us across whatever kind of gastrointestinal barrier they might have? Or would eating us give them the runs?

Why would we go to another planet. Surely not to shake hands. We would go to take over. Kick some alien butts.

    .+1

I mean come on if an outside species is picking up our news, and radio listening to all the shit we do, it might be in there best interest to try and remove us.

But then again they might just think, were too distructive and will kill our selves b4 were ever a threat anyway?

Why would they take the chance?

Because they took psychohistory and the mathematical models say so. Most intelligent species kill themselves off before they could start interstellar travel...

It depends on the expense/hassle involved in killing us. If it's cheap and easy, why not just get it out of the way and not have to worry about it?

It might be easier [and more amusing] to just let us do it for them. I imagine any race accustomed to interstellar travel is going to know a thing or two about patience

Smash some rocks into a known vulcanic sites all around the world. Watch the airtraffic being shut down, including the military one. Smash some rocks into random targets of high symbolic value. Paris, Manhattan, red square, Atomium.

Sit back and relax, watch the chaos ensue. Have a laugh.

    How?
    With big catapults?

Have you thought this idea through?
