8 children stabbed to death at Chinese school

"BEIJING — A former medical worker allegedly stabbed to death eight young children and wounded five others Tuesday in a bloody rampage outside an elementary school in eastern China.
The attacker struck in the morning as students arrived for classes, mingling with parents at the school gates before suddenly pulling out his knife and slashing children,
Eight children were killed, and five were being treated at a hospital, Wu said. Six died at the scene, which was smeared with blood from the sidewalk to the floor of an inner reception room.
The victims' ages were not immediately known, but Chinese elementary schools typically have students ages 6 to 12."

Horrible story, makes me angry, sad, depressed all rolled up into one. Those poor families.
It breaks my heart to think these maniacs target children. We need to know what makes people like this tick if we are ever to prevent it from happening again (see Dunblane, Dendermonde).

I'm amazed the Daily Mail readership haven't tried to blame it on video games, yet.

Really? I can understand a little shame just because we're all stuck here (on earth) being human and you can't stop everything like this. Guilt is something different though, isn't it?

China likes their cover-ups. Seems they're also prone to stabbing people when mentally ill.

Some 30 years or so back, John Brunner (sci fi writer) tagged them "Muckers". This for folks living in a complex, crazy and crowded modern industrial world who just 'run amuck' for no single, predictable reason.

In the Orient these days, there is a major problem with methamphetamine (fired up initially by the Japanese during WW2 so they could all keep fighting real hard for many hours at a stretch). Since the strategy for dealing with this is "denial" (as it is elswhere), this type of thing happens frequently over there. Happens elswhere also, and this is not the only cause.

Fear of this is appropriate as it is coming to a small town or a big city near where you live, sooner or later. A lot of people have been pushed very close to their limits all over the world and some of them are going to snap, taking others out with them.

Causes? Mental illness, drug usage, anger, family problems, loss of a job or career, road rage spillover, political extremism etc etc etc are all potential drivers that could set someone off.

After a 2 week run on methamphetamine, it might actually seem like a good idea to kill a bunch of children. As I recall, the serious hallucinations start up after about 48 hours without sleep, and the systemic lactic acidosis puts most otherwise normal people into an unbelievabley angry and irritable state of mind shortly thereafter. As has been proven in the UK and Japan, if you want to kill somebody and you don't have a gun, you use a knife or a club.

It is not the weapon that kills, it is the person. If they do not have a weapon, they will improvise a weapon, or just use their bare hands.

We all really need to become more aware of our surroundings and the other people around us rather than succombing to the catatonic narcolepsy of personal electronic devices, drugs, money, ambition and all of that stuff. Perhaps if a bunch of us could do that, there would be less negative stuff for us all to deal with.

Otherwise, get ready for a lot more of this to come.

Just like lemmings or any species in over-crowded conditions. Mothers will eat their young, death and destruction......

Ah, this is the story I was thinking of in the "gun" thread....thanks to the O.P.!

    CORRECT!
    It's a tool.
Look at prisons, they kill eachother with toothbrushes, metals, practically ANYTHING they can find.
If you ain't got no gun or knife.
You can create a shank (some normal appliance to create a knife)
You can throw molotov cocktails (alcohol mixed with toilet paper and fire)
You can use your bare fists
    Etc
One thing is for sure, though
They need to stop creating powerful weapons, the world should make some sort of peace treaty

It does leave a bad window of opportunity. And there are certain stigmas that make people & guns a bad mix towards pointless deaths

What's wrong with the Chinese? They don't have guns!

"A man wielding a knife broke into a primary school in southern China and stabbed 18 students and a teacher Wednesday, the same day another school attacker was executed for killing eight children last month, state media reported."

Well, something to be learnt, the execution was pretty fast, no 10 years on death row bullshit...

I think the most human way to kill someone is by euthanasia.

Euthanasia is not really a method. It could refer to any way of killing a permanently sick person, be it pillow over the head, turning off oxygen, bullet to head, whatever...

Dude for Me to kill some one you would have to give me some damn good reason, for me to want to.

And trust me once it was all said and done i would be the least bit Humane as possible.

I'm thinking Paralyze him/her then cause them to bleed, and let them watch as some wild hungry animal consumes them slowly.

Sounds Horrible, but People like that Chinese dude would deserve it.

    Not again...

"Another violent rampage has occurred in China: A man killed eight people this weekend in the country’s southeast region. Victims included his mother, wife, and daughter and the motive is not yet clear. Details from witnesses report the man killing his 10-year-old daughter and then turning on his 83-year-old mother, who was reportedly begging for her life. The man then attacked his wife and several others nearby. This recent attack is the latest in a disturbing trend involving multiple cases of mass violence including several attacks on school children."
