http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...-spiral-blue-light-display-hovers-Norway.html Did anyone see this? What is it?
In spite of what that article says, NAVTex issued the following warning: An anonymous sources in the russian military have stated it was a failed test launch, probably of a Bulava from the White Sea. Here is a similar event thought to have been a test launch of a Sineva (note the similarities, including the spiral structure). Finally, here's a simulation of a rocket, or rocket stage, leaking fuel from two ends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx8i5EfmYU4 Oh, two more things: COmpilation of video footage of the event Pravda news article says there will be at least 5 Bulava tests in 2009 (and that they were being tested this time last year).
Turns out President Obama was in Oslo, Norway yesterday. A Russian ballistic missile fired over Norway while the President was there. Maybe this thread should be moved to World Events.
I guess it was a little of both. A spiraling Russian rocket combined with the same atmospheric conditions that can lead to rings around the moon.
Trippy's links seem to explain that instance as well. Is there an unspoken aspect to these rocket failures that could have other military implications. I occasionally hear that there are secret military projects or weapons developments related to disrupting communications and it is certain that both the US and Russia are developing such measures. I don't exactly know if these spiral displays have any communications implications or not. What about that?
Hey this was pretty cool. I had the internet radio playing as i was looking at the vid, and as soon as I pressed play on the video, the song "Space Oddity" by David Bowie came on... no lie!!! I listen to slacker radio. Anyways it reminded me of some type of visual projection like the ones ive seen at light shows. Either that or the russians have found a way to rip a hole in the space time continuum. Can you say DR. WHO?
