I've heard people suggest this before.

Does anybody have any follow ups?

Sometimes heavy artistic learning may hamper your artistic skills. There is no rule for a person's artistic skills. Sometimes technical learning may inspire one in his/her artistic creation process.

I hear it most from IT folk, old men and what have you that have been at the game for years.

Do your arms weaken without exercise? Do your legs strengthen if you don't use them?

What kind of trading do you do? If you are sitting doing technical analysis 14 hours a day, your want for art is a symptom of your need for a break IMO.

No, but when machines fail and you can't buy new ones.

This seems to pre-suppose that there's no artistry involved in a technical job.
Which is, of course, utter nonsense.

yes. It's easy to allude to the book ' Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance"

Even easier, apparently, to draw inferences without the implication being made.

I know it's a public forum, but we are anonymous so it's sorta-polite to butt in and be rude.

One side for this, and one side for that is not supported by evidence I know of.

When I look at brain scans the whole brain is somewhat active while doing tasks. Work is modulated somewhat, but the brain is still very far from being sliced into two big sections.

    thanks for reading
