    Leaving this Friday evening. ^__^

I've done my research and already have my goals set, but I'm still open to insiders' advice. Can you point out your favorite spots in Vienna/Prague/both? Is there anything you've seen there that you haven't seen anywhere else (I don't mean the obviously unique architecture and monuments)?

Also, I'm looking for antique book stores in the area.

    Great thanks in advance!

Prague has a HUGE book shop. (4 or 5 floors).
    But it's not antique books.
I didn't have enough time there to look for antique book shops but the twisty little back streets look like perfect locations for some.

You'll have a great time in both cities.
Myself, the highlight of Vienna was the architecture (and the pastry..). Alas, the city is quite expensive.
As for Prague, if you've never been, you're in for a treat. My first time there I had planned on spending 4 days. I ended up staying for 4 weeks. Easily my favourite city in the world.

Can you guys be more specific? I'd need addresses of all recommended spots.

    When did you go there?

It won't be my first time in Europe, I know it's pretty there. Everyone who visits Prague tells me they want to live there. I will pass 5 days in Vienna and 3 days in Prague, and would stay longer but it costs a lot and I have to work. Sadly.

9 and then 8 years ago.
The underground (metro/ subway) is very cheap and easy.
Get off at Museum (pronounced Moo-zay-um) and you're practically in the centre. (Or maybe it was Flora - my memory's going!). Regardless either one is within strolling distance of the other and worth the walk.

You get used to the names after a couple of trips.
IIRC coming out of the station look to your left and there's the book store (I first noticed the sign "BOOKS" written in Russian plastered in huge letters on the building).
Lots (and lots and lots) of clubs and bars, friendly people (who will talk English, but as with everywhere appreciate attempts at speaking their language) and very good food at extremely reasonable prices.
I had the best onion soup in my life ever at a large pizzeria just off Wenceslas* Square (if memory serves it's the one seen in XXX when Vin Diesel and Asia Argento come out the restaurant and the sniper's waiting for him - although if true the exterior for that scene isn't the interior in the previous scene, ah, Hollywood

    ).

    * And do get a look at the Astronomical Clock in Wenceslas Square.
