Progress at any cost is not advisable. But the cost may be high.

That may indicate humans are the best evolution has produced. It's no indication of the best evolution can produce.

I'm not so sure about that. Have you considered various insects and other arthropods ?

the honest people are few and are the ones that contribute knowledge for us all to evolve in comprehension.

ie.... confucius, jesus, galileo, newton, darwin, etc..... single folks who did not follow the norm, but stood up and gave of their time for the 'truth' to evolve. (knowledge to convey)

    hope that helps

Apparently you are so enlightened, insightful and perceptive that your attempts to elucidate and clarify the meaning in your posts evade us morons here on SF. We try hard to keep up, but give us a break and try to tone it down a notch or two so that the feeble minded among us may benefit from your brilliance. Thanks in advance...

i like the 'kids' answer, which kind of mirrors mine

    Evolutionary, Hell yes.

Personally, no, but we're getting there.

it is like i said; knowledge is evolving (HELL YES)

but the fools are 'less than' good as 'we the people' will continue but the fools will be extinct............

    nothing to debate

mankind is both doing 'good and bad'.................. naturally!

    good: supports life to continue

    bad: loss to the common

    Mankind can do both.

Me; contributing for others to understand

    you: a waste of life

notice how and why i came up with them facts?

basically rocks that can think and do based on choice

Gen 3 in bible can assist

22And Jehovah God saith, `Lo, the man was as one of Us, as to the knowledge of good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand, and have taken also of the tree of life, and eaten, and lived to the age,' --

so in a sense, per bible of course, god said we are 'as one of us'............we have the ability to 'create' and the creation of words by mankind is 'proof'

    so within the universe, mankind is learning and writing about what the universe is;

by following that, then eventually; mass (mankind) will comprehend its existence.

that to me is the pinnacle of evolution (existence defining itself)

    (the unveiling)

if i was to choose; guys like you would not be allowed to continue

i say, be responsible or be extinct!

lesson from the product of Humanity; i could care less for any who choose to be of self over the total

so the lessons of both knowledge and absolution are quite simple

'mankind' did reveal the truth over time

Does not mean 'allow the corrupt to continue'.............!

it is quite consistent( with nature); the few who cannot adapt to the changes, go extinct!

perhaps you can make it for me

    is that what you want?

Get on with it already. Yes or no.

It doesn't seem that difficult of a question. We have come a long way from the trees and caves. As a species, collectively we are far more powerful than we have ever been.

The question is not whether we are more likely to survive over other species or are we more adaptive. Which is no.

The question is not have we done bad things or will continue to do bad things. We have and will.

The question is are we a success.

    There is only one answer.

    my opinion is up

let the rest of the folks make theirs
in the big picture, i agree; whole heartedly (knowledge has successfully evolved so that mankind can comprehend itself; YES a success)

but no one knows what tomorrow will bring in which many might believe mankind failed; see the global climate of tension/economics/religions.

We just spoiled in the west, whereas across the globe; we are monsters to this planet when observing humanities impact to life on the earth.

The saving face, is knowledge is evolving and that is the greatest truth that i really appreciate about having choice; we the people, can think and learn by by choice, from trial and error.

So 'yes' in the overall; when applying the scope of (all of mankind) humanity.

    Yes....... successful!

Well, we have not failed yet.

Because if we did, we wouldn't be here right now.

Yes it is. It's kinda of like asking, do you want to live as an ugly doofus who screws up almost everything he touches or be dead ?

It's not pretty but it's working so far.

Instead of answering the individual questions, I will say this...

I wouldn't say that humankind, in general, is a failure. After all, we've existed for thousands upon thousands of years and have yet to die off. We are reproducing at an astounding rate that even our own efforts cannot control it.

Sure, we do create tools, vehicles, equipment, etc etc for what some percieve as enjoyment yet can be deadly as well. It's that risk factor in life that we all have to some degree. I think humans have created many things that have led to more harm than good, both for us and creatures around us (ie guns). However, I do believe that humankind throughout history have done far more good than bad.
