When I was in San Diego earlier this year, I saw for the first time an episode of a strange late-night show called Talkshow With Spike Feresten. Apparently it's been around for about four years. It was strange, kind of like Craig Ferguson on Prozac. Indeed, as I look up the title for this post, I see the note that the show has just been canceled.

The hand-farting musician was cool, though.

It was such a strange show that I actually sent a text message to my brother about it. I couldn't figure out who the hell this guy was or where he came from. But I'm guessing it's one of those things about who you know, because in looking up Bee Movie at IMDB, I see that he and Jerry Seinfeld are co-writers with four others.

Seinfeld. The cast for this film is amazing, including Seinfeld alums Patrick Warburton, Michael Richards, and Carol Leifer; stand-up comics Chris Rock, Larry Miller (a one-time Seinfeld guest, who played The Doorman in the 1995 episode "The Doorman"), and Jeff Altman; and a host of high-profile actors and celebrities including René Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, John Goodman, Kathy Bates, Barry Levinson, Larry King, Ray Liotta, Sting, and Oprah Winfrey.

It's an astounding, jaw-dropping cast. And the results are equally astounding.

The plot, for those who haven't seen the film, and actually care, is that a bee (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld) sues humanity for eating honey.

My official review, having watched this film a few times in recent days: I hereby invoke the "Thumper Rule".

Wow, I saw that movie so long ago I'd forgotten about it. It was ok. I liked the commercials better with Jerry in a bee costume being hoisted around.

That was centuries ago. It was cute, but hardly worthy of joining Disney's Classics.
